Full ring or 6-max, was talking to my friend online through IM last week who plays only full ring and I have only played 6 max for last year or so and was wondering what you guys play and why.

I want to know reasons you play only 6 max or reasons you play only full ring.

Short handed is my game. Action is faster. Bets for some reason play higher.

if your best asset towards winning is your patience and taking advantage of donks who will stack off light i think full ring is a good choice

if your best asset towards winning is making better decisions than your opponents.. essentially reading and just playing better, 6max is likely more profitable for you because you should rightly be involved in more hands and thus have more opportunity to execute that edge

overall full ring is probably "easier" to play profitably (patience, patience, patience), but 6 max has a greater earnings potential the better you are

BBB I think latley I have been playing way too passive postflop, do you think full ring would better suite me till I can become more aggressive? or is this just a hole that is going to be exploited no matter where I play?

im fine preflop, my PFR is always right around my VP$IP but seems like I get scared when I see the flop and just go into calling station mode and usually let people catch.

Personally, I have had better results at full ring, playing TAG and LAG. For some reason, at 6max I really try to LAG it up and get crazy to the point where I am a maniac. I just cant seem to control myself with the action moving so fast. Also, I think the competition is a little bit better at the 6max tables.

I think that is a hole that will be exploited regardless, Brian, but more so in 6-max, due to the aggression factor.

I play 6-max for a couple reasons:

1) I don't have tons of time to play, so the games go a little faster.

2) It appeals to my somewhat LAGgy style. I can play more hands and see more action. Me likey. I can more readily play the players versus the cards as well.

6 handed is mostly LAG players. If you are playing passive PF you might actually do good here. At the lower limit tables it doesn't matter what you have PF. Because of the LAG play there you get all sorts of play. It's your play afterwards that matters.

Also if you are trying to play passive as your choice I would move to the short handed PLHE tables. This is the spot where you could really shine.

I like the full table , not really sure why , I dont have different way of playing , I just think more people, more money in pot , then if I get a hand they wont all fold.

6 max is ok but I hate when it gets down to 3 or 4 .

What if I can't answer the bold besides I always do better and just like the style of play more (as in faster paced, but then I guess this is answering the bold lol)?

I like full tables more because generally I set aside long periods of time to play and can wait for the right moment and like said above alot of the people that play 6 handed arent there for long and I seem to have to hop around tables more and it takes a while to get good reads on players since I dont use a poker tracker.

Full ring for me. Don't mind waiting a while to catch some cards knowing some donk will stack you when you hit. Also suits my TAG play better.

Then maybe it's time to shake your game up. Go to the pot limit games. These are great to play at when you are changing your style of play. You can limit your loses there but still make a killing with good hands. Play hands that you normally wouldn't and bet them out. Go to the tables that have the one monster stack and watch how they play.

6 handed is the name of the game, you dont have to worry as much in early position with a KQ so you can be the raiser and theres just not as much competition.

Shorthanded because it lets me play the players more and the cards less. (most of the time, someone does not have a monster)

Me too. I always play 6-max these days. I agree with Combuboom that there is more money to be made there if you have an edge over the opposition.

I drop out and find a new table if it falls below 5 players, though. On a table that is very short-handed, everyone plays very loose in order to beat the blinds, and it becomes much tougher to put the opponent on a hand.

Actually, to be honest, my new favorite game is heads-up. That's why I wanted to start that heads-up tournament in special events section.

advangtages to both a full rign you can play less agressive and wait for hand and 6 handed you can play more agressive and cant wait as long for a hand....i dont have a favorite it depends on the mood im in that day and the way i want to play....
