Just been readin the post about Freeroll schedules by StarlightCoast - interesting schedule BUT I wondered how other players perceive freerolls when they enter? A lot of times when Im in a freeroll you see over 25 percent of players go allin on complete junk - when u ask them wtf they are doing they almost always reply 'well its a freeroll who cares?'
This makes it so very difficult to play ur normal game ie play decent cards when others on the table are going allin with 8 3 off etc
Anyone out there got any strategies to ignore these guys and remain in the tourney long enough for freerolls to be profitable??

Regards

agreed

I get the same answer when i refer to someone putting all their money in with that hand. They always say "money"?? It's free. I don't bother explaining to them that chips represent money and the object of the game is to collect alot of chips to earn money. Seems simple enough. After taking a bad beat early in a tourney yesterday i had 290 left in chips. I didn't give up though. I kept pushing my chips in with the best hand, and won every hand until i had 2000.
From there i could loosen up a bit. Doubled up again when i got AK suited, then the very next hand i picked up kings. Now i had 5500 and pushed them all in with this strong hand hoping for a call. Well i got one. 10d,4d vs. kings.
He made a fullhouse and i got sent packing. It was pointless to even type to ask why he made that call for 5500 when the blinds are 100-200 and we both had the same amt of chips. At any rate i run into this roadblock in every freeroll.

The only thing I can say is just play your game. As I am not someone who makes it really far in a freeroll to begin with (I have gotten better), I have learned that when the blinds are really big, I just have to look at it as a bet. Not the amount of the bet, but just wether or not it is worth it to make a bet. Look at your cards and if you think they are worthy of a bet, then maybe it's worth it to call the all-in. However, from experience, if you have someone that is winning everytime they call an all-in, don't do it. You most likely won't win that one cause they have the luck of the cards with them.

Whenever I am confronted with this situation, I play very tight and very aggressive. Then I remember Doyle Brunson saying "You cna only get your money in with the best hand and hope you don't get outdrawn". If it does happen breathe deeply and dont go on tilt. GL

Also I know we all heard this before, but in the long run good cards will hold up over bad cards. The thing you have to remember is you have to be a little lucky as well as good to win a big freeroll.

just take a deep breath and just play your game. I don't belive in playing foolish even in freeroll or play money it develops bad habits.

Calling an all in with 8 3 off is like playing football with the quarterback tossing the ball up win the air with his eyes closed and hoping one of his teammates catches the ball.

Only in poker dumb luck prevails so much it's down right silly.
