I couldnt bring my self to believe it but this guy on my 9seat table on pokerstars was down to about 5,000 chips and the blinds were upto about 400/800 and he lost a few hands in a row and started screaming on about how pokerstars runs a program to set people up by putting them up agains a giant to get them all in and ultimatly put them out to speed the tourney up to the bubble. He was saying he's on his way out and theres nothing he could do about it....4 hands later he had a stack of 32,000.

Has any one else Heard of this 'mythical' software or had any bad losers try to blame the web sites for putting big hands up against each other every now and again, because im sure it happens in live poker to.....

Are they paranoid, or is the world really out to get them?

When ever I see something like this I ask "Why in the world would a poker site risk MILLIONS of $$ to rig a freeroll? or even a real money table or tournament for that matter" Too much risk for far too little reward.

This is a typical behavioural pattern in humans. When something goes wrong there are several ways the brain tries to deal with it. One of the ways is denial, there is no way that guy could have played those hands any differently, pokerstars were trying to set HIM up because they just wanna keep the good players down..... HMMMM I don't think so I'm pretty sure pokerstars want good players to have bankrolls as they are more likely to bust bad players, who in turn are more likely to deposit more.

Denial for sure. What he's probably doing is getting desperate and playing trash hands to pick up chips thinking somehow they are unbeatable. So of course he runs smack into a real hand or a bigstack limping with almost anything and either hitting or bluffing big enough to scare him off his pot.

One mentioned about making people redeposit..we're talking freerolls here. As for making people reload, that's just silly. The sites make their money off of rakes, not deposits. The more hands a person plays cash hands the more money the site makes, pretty simple math. (btw, that's where money of fr's come from with the exception of sponsored games like CC freerolls where this site pays the prize money to the game site to hold the games in our name)

Do the sites balance the tables, sure. Turning tables theoretically would increase rake so there may be some truth to balancing facilitates hasty decisions, naturally one can choose to be patient and selective. Is the intent on the poker sites behalf suspect? I don't think so. It is what it is. Personally if I'm short stacked I like to be near a careless big stack.

Why do people even give morons like that the time of day..

What makes me laugh is the idiots who come up with the theory that the big stacks always end up winning. Forgive me for sounding stupid, but the reason they've got the big stack in the first place is because they are winning... Kind of like erm.. logical really isnt it.

As it goes though, I can vouch that moving tables can benefit you big time in a tournament. I was in a freeroll and I'd built up a nice stack of about 20k when I went and sat out for a while. I forgot all about the game and when I came back to it I still had 6k but the blinds had risen to 600/1200 and I was shortstacked like hell. That said, there were 90 odd left and they were payingo out at 50 so I had to make sure I hit it just right

I then sat patiently waiting to get a hand to shove with when I was moved table. Lo and behold I ended up right behind the dealer. So I sat out more hands expecting the blinds to come round to me. As they got close I was moved table AGAIN. Yet again right behind the dealer. So once again I sat and waited for the right spot. Nothing was coming so I prepared for the blinds. As I got to UTG I was moved table again. Guess where.. Right behind the dealer.

And so it continued. Everytime I moved table I ended up right behind the dealer. I managed to double up once and picked up a couple of blinds with all in shoves, but other than that I did nothing until I hit the final table. OK I had next to no chips and went out very quickly, but the point was from 90 to 10 players I played about 4 hands and never had to pay the blinds once..

Freerolls are like the "loss leader" at the department store. They are designed to get you through the door so you can see all the other wonderful things they have to sell you. Now imagine if all the promotional items were complete trash. Would you stay to look at anything else they offered? I wouldn't.

I can't say that the poker site wants to give you a bad freeroll experience. Heck, they want you to play so many of them that you feel you can tackle all the other paying games. Sooo... Freeroll Elimination Software sounds like a really time consuming concept that serves no purpose.

Sorry, I gotta vote "Nay" to the FES.

I'm not saying that the sites are rigged but, why is it so hard to even consider they might possibility be. After 8 years of Bush and his V/P(hiding in the bushes) I can believe almost anything when money is involved. The more people that have an additude that there is no possible way anything corrupt is going on the more possible it is. All I am saying is be aware of the fact that it is possible. It's also possible that other players are cheating. I know I don't just dismiss the possibility that cheating can or is going on. Just be careful and Good luck

Thats the thing about online poker. You will never know. The companies site that you play on will never release info on something like that. They will deny it but you will never know the truth. Unless you know a tech personally. But ive seen it happen to. It just starts turning into coinflips, and everyone wants to knock out the annoying person but thats just how it goes..

OMG that's it! :D

Do the math. let's say there are 2,000 players at $500 freeroll. Rake income would be 2,000 x $0 = $0 for the game less $500 payout. Total income made -$500 minus all othe business costs. Therefore designing and implimenting at freerolls would be another cost to the gaming company who then has nothing to show but wasted dollars and lost future clients in return for elimination software.

btw..no gov't bailouts for poker gaming sites in the foreseeable future......but who knows!:p

I have often wondered if they do this as well. Sometimes it seems like something is happening to speed the game up. But...... I don't feel they would risk doing this as this could put them out of business!!! Just a myth.

We get what we jokingly call "Full Tilt Hands" at our home games (JJ vs KK vs AA) sometimes. Which prooves that it can and does happen in real life too.
