Be very conservative at the start, i mean ur bound to get a caller 80% of the time, so wait for a monster hand and push, double up, and do it again, untill your well set and then change gears.

Be tight, don't play to many hands in the first hour. In reality don't play many hands at all until antes come into play. At that point you can loosen up and try stealing some pots but until antes don't play anything out of position or thats doesn't already have potential

Good luck at your tables

We do not tolerate password sharing here. Anyone found to be sharing Cardschat passwords with unauthorized people will be banned, as well as sharing passwords to other forums' games.

Ok... played a few, it looks like I'm doing a lot better, the first one I lost over half my chips when I had a decent hand, just somebody had a bit better of a hand. Finished somewhere in the mid 500s out of 2700.

The next time I believe that I got two clubs handed to me... then two more on the flop... on the turn I missed the club and someone went all in, I was down to maybe 800-1000 chips and the blinds were getting up there so I decided this was my best chance to double up and I called him going all in looking for the flush, I got the club but it turns out that he got a fullhouse and I went packing yet AGAIN.

Then in todays game I called an all in on like the second hand of the game with a KK... the other guy had an A3 which I didn't know at the time... and of course since he's playing against Sanket "No Luck" Desai he gets the ace on the flop and packing I go within the first two minutes lol.

Trying again today at 1:32 and 3:40 and 7:40 and of course 11:40, thanks for the help guys.

I have had pretty good success at freerolls. I like to wait and see what the "Mad Hatters" are going to do in the first few hands, as it makes little sense to limp or push a small raise with something like pp tens or a nice suited connector only to have some idiot go allin. Once I feel I can at least play a hand with reasonable reassurance that I'll see a flop, I play a bit looser than normal when the blinds are cheap, then tighten up in the later stages. I agree with the blind stealing strategy once you get to the higher blinds with antes, but, as always, with caution. Hang in there...winning real money on a freeroll CAN be done!

If you are talking about a regular Full Tilt freeroll, your chances of placing in the money are VERY small. Only 27 places out of 2700 (1%) is the slimmest margin I have ever seen in a tournament. Specialty and private freerolls (like CardsChat freerolls) pay up to 20% and you can place in them 20 times as often. Granted, ten or twenty cents is not a great payout for the lower wins, but it is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. :icon_porc

Try some of our Cardschat freerolls - the fields are much smaller and you get slightly better players overall, making it a bit more fun.

Nice, I finished 214th out of 2700!

I have to disagree with the freeroll strategy article on this site, I think it would be a bit wiser to play aggressive early then tighten up late because if you play tight you'll end up with $200/$400 blinds with maybe 2000-3000 chips and you'll most likely blind out as I did earlier this morning.

Thanks, guys, keep thme coming if you got anymore tips.

Another good tip, which is sometimes easier said than done, is to loosen up a little when near the bubble. A lot of freeroll players can go super tight when close to making their $1 or whatever it is. Good chance to steal some blinds.
