I have earned enough partypoints at partypoker to get a free book. The top 2 they have are Supersystem 2 or Theory of Poker?I currently have Small Stakes Holdem (Ed Miller) and Harrington's vol 1 & 2. I have not read Supersytem 1 and they say this is for advanced players and I am not sure if I am that good yet so I am not sold on SS2. ToP I know its very popular but from what I hear , it sounds like I already know most of that stuff(bluffing, pot odds, etc). Which book should I get for free?

No offense, but ToP is much more than just bluffing, pot odds, if you haven't read it; you should.

I have Theory of Poker and have read it and pick at it quite often. It is a very, very good book.

I was at the book store and I got a chance to glance through both. SS2 is thicker then the bible :D and it also talks alot about all forms of poker, right now I want to concentrate on NLHE. ToP impressed me more eventhoug it looks like some hard work but thats cool. So I am getting ToP and trying out a different site. Thanks!

I haven't read ToP, but I don't think you could go wrong with either of them. You say you want to focus on NLHE, but reading about all the other games can still give you great insight into the strategies in holdem. I dunno. Either is good :icon_geek:

In my opinion, it depends on what your immediate goals are. If you intend to eventually grow a deep understanding of poker, then Theory of Poker is the way to go. If your goal is to improve your winrate and pick up useful tips and pointers, then SS2 is the better buy.

Now, a deep understanding of poker isn't for everyone, which is why I'm asking about your goals. ToP is nowhere near as thick as SS2, but it's a whole lot harder to actually grasp, and requires a lot of studying and thinking about poker. I went through a lot of "aha!" moments before I felt like I actually got it. Specifically, I'd analyze some hands I had played and suddenly had an epiphany, like "ohhh - THAT'S what he meant when he said I should check the river in early position with a mediocre hand."

Your winrate won't improve by reading ToP; it will improve by reading ToP and then thinking about the game away from the table. If you know that it's your immediate winrate that you want to work on, SS2 is perhaps the better buy.
