Tomorrow’s hearing in the House Financial Services Committee on Internet gambling is expected to pave the way for a committee vote on Chairman Barney Frank’s legislation to regulate the industry, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act of 2009 (H.R. 2267).
A statement by Chairman Frank last week indicated that he will seek to enact his bill prior to June 1, 2010, the new date set for required enforcement of UIGEA. He stated, the delay “…will give us a chance to act in an unhurried manner on my legislation to undo this regulatory excess by the Bush administration and to undo this ill-advised law.”
