I am finally turning 21 on June 18th and I am flying from SC to home in NY to head out to Foxwoods and play some live poker that I dont have to worry about lol. I dont know how much to bring and I plan for goin maybe a day or two depending on whether my free rooms come through or not. Money really isnt an option but I dont want to take too much, just enough for a good learning expierience, play a few tournies, ring games, enough to teach me more of what casino playing is like.

Also if you know what limits and tables would be most profitable or how people normally play, id appreciate that too :)

Well I've never been to Foxwoods, but have been to a few Casino's since I have turned 21. I do keep up with a lot of the Casino's here and around the area though. I have read a lot and thought about going to Foxwoods, just haven't made it yet.

Anyway....First thing I would do if I were you is sign up for the Foxwoods Wampum Rewards Card. This is the Free card that every Casino offers. Gives you points and rewards for free rooms, food ect. It also lets you sign up for contest, but most importantly you CANNOT register for any daily tournaments unless you have the card and present it when you sign up for the tourney.

Check out this website, it tells you of their daily tournaments: Daily Schedule

From what I've heard they have pretty sweet sit-n-go's. 10 Max players, smallest is $120 buy-in, top 3 pay.

If you just want to start out small, see if they have a $3/$6 Limit game....Yes that seems small and weak, but it can be very profitable. I sat down once with just $10 over the minimum, so $40 bucks and was up to $120 within a few hands. Casino play is a competley different ballgame from home games or online games. So this would be a great table to start out with I would buy in with a max of maybe $100 in chips, they will mostly be $1 and $5 chips. Plus with limit and not so much to start off with it will minimize your losses and you won't look strong sitting down at a table with fewer chips than others. You will see people come to this table with $200+ easy, that could be a target that they are not very good and need the extra chips to show strength.

If you play a NL game the cheapest you'll probably have to sit down with is $200 at least, and that will be the minimum. So with that said, others will be sitting down with probably 3 times that or more.

Its all up to you though, whatever you perfer, I just wanted to give my .02 cents on my past experinces when I first started Casino play.

I wish I could have played there before you went to tell you more, but this is all I know from friends going and reading about it.

I'll be there one day~!

I played at a NL table in a casino in Upper Michigan and from my limited experience I can tell you that the play was as loose as I have ever seen online. Things like I'd raise 3xBB and every single person would call... There was some local guy sitting next to me and I remarked to him about how loose people were playing, he replied "Oh this is nothing, you should see it later on after midnight when people are getting drunk"

The thing was that it was so predictable that it was rather easy to win money. I sat down with $100 and left with over $400.

Get a feel for how the table is playing and how much of a bet it takes to be respected and then go from there. I did things like made pot building bets. Nobody would fold unless the bets were well over 3xBB, so when I'd hit a real monster ( I flopped a boat at one point ) I'd bet 2xBB, and with 6 people in the hand being strung along it was far more profitable than betting more and getting less callers. Nut flush draw? bet small, let the pot build etc.

Sounds dumb to say, but it was far easier to play the people and not the cards live as opposed to online.

Good luck !

>> And Happy Birthday !!! <<

A funny story: After I left the table, I went to see how my wife was doing at the carribbean stud table. She asked me how I did, and I replied " Oh my god, those people were such fish it was sad."

Then I noticed one of the people I had busted was sitting next to my wife.....

oops.

I agree, you think people online play any hand.....My god, some of the guys at the first Casino I went to played every hand. They were regulars that played at the casino everyday. They would play any hand, any suite for any price just to see what they could hit, or what you had. You can make some money but be cautious because the same guy that played 2 8 and had nothing, will flop Trip Kings and play it as if it were 2 8.

I checked out the foxwoods website and yea, I think im gonna bring 1-2k and see what I can do. I played limit in Atlantic City when I was 19 and lost quickly, I just cant play limit as well as I used to so ill probably be at the NL tables. If anyone from here will be in the area and want to play together or exchange ideas just pm me and let me know.

Again, thanks guys for all the advice, it will definitely help.
