Ok so you're in a tournament and in a hand heads up against one other person. On the river you shove with a full house (holding AA) on a board of As, 10h, 9h, 9s, Qh. Your opponent calls (he has you out chipped). You show your AA and he immediately mucks. You ask the dealer to show his hand to the table, which you have the right to do, and it is easily identifiable. The dealer flips his cards up revealing Jh 8h and awards the pot to your opponent, you are now out of the tournament.

Was this the right call? Try to answer before you look it up.

The answer is yes. If at any time a player who is in the hand at showdown asks to see another players hand (who was also in the hand at showdown and who mucked) that mucked hand then becomes live and wins if cards dictate.

If a player not in the hand at showdown asks to see the mucked hand then the mucked cards are not live and do not win even if cards dictate.

Any player dealt cards in a hand may request to see a showdown players mucked hand, but if the asker was also at showdown - beware of what you wish for.

Absolutely the right call by the dealer. Tabled cards play themselves. This is the risk that players take when exercising their right to see an opponents mucked hand from a called bet.

wow that is crazy. I would have said the hand was dead. I never ask to see mucked cards. Definitely not asking now.
