So I was playing a cash game yesterday. A guy just joined the table and the action started with the utg player (6 players where playing including me) min raised. Now I had played with him and found from history with him that he's more likely not to have aa, kk ect with a raise size like this and that it was a 'trick'. The new g who had just joined went all in for 60 big blinds. So that's a re raise from 0.12c to 3.60$. action was folded to me in the big blind. Now the thing is I've seen soo many players come to a table and feel they have to 'set a tone/ image' so I put him on a range from 22-aa and k9-ak (roughly tbh it wouldn't have been too much of a surprise if he flipped over 3 6 because of the history of people that do this. All in all I think I'm beating his range sometime at least a flip a large amount of the time crushed him sometimes and dominated sometimes. I'm getting pretty much evens on my money. I don't think the guy behind me can call especially when I call ( the over guy was covered btw). Anyway the guy had aj and hit an ace on the tuen to win the pot.

Anyway this is kind of relevant but only to a certain degree. Firstly do you think my play was justified in that hand?

And one more thing what is the right amount to call a flip with in a cash game? E.g. Let's say Im playing heads up I have ak and the guy ships 100 big blinds with queens and shows it in the hand. Should i call? Does it depend on the percentage of your bankroll your playing? Is it like a tournament short stack play so I should only do it with 10-20 big blinds (I doubt this is the answer..)

Lol I had 99.

I'm a beginning player so you should take this with a grain of salt.

You made the right decision and you lost. Sometimes you'll lose flips, sometimes you'll win, but you shouldn't be afraid to shove.

mmm, what were you getting for a coin flip? you were getting, what close to 1-1 pot odds in a cash game. Tourney correct to call with your read; cash game let someone else play sheriff.

99>AXo so in this sense it's a call because cash games are all about +ev which this is, if we knew what he had it's a call. In terms of range we have to have 1010+ and A10s+ in his range so we're probably slightly behind and it's a fold. It doesn't sit right when people say you lost a coin flip though, it wasn't a coin flip as you were a decent bit ahead..

Not a coin flip

You had the best hand, it's just that why extend yourself (unless AA or KK)? you are beat so many times with overcards. When you win it's "yeah I'm the Man" and loose "I got donked". I'll get Baubid1 to do the math.

The maths isn't that hard. It's 54 46 preflop. It's a call any day
