It might be just a coincidence, but every player who has a screen name ending in "boi" or "boiii" eg Lukeyboi, they all all uber fish imo.

Perhaps "Breadbins" as I call them, are just really bad at de pokerz.

i just played probably the biggest fish on full tilt i have ever witnessed with the screename AteeSteel
OMG this guy was so bad but kept giving me rematches heads up...i went 14-5 against him which is insane in todays game! must of been nice when there was more of these types of fish around back in the day but when you get them nowadays its super special! he finally declined a rematch sadly :(

I see that your signature, or whatever that quote below your post is called, is by Daniel. You misspelled his name. It's Negreanu, not Negraneau.

Ta very much. :)

Always was the world's worst at spelling. Worst of all I looked it up before posting and still got it wrong. :(

Played against a gentleman and he was just raising and calling every where. The most horrible thing about it was, it seemed no matter what hand he was raising and calling, he was actually hitting these cards on the table!!!. Next thing you know he has 55000 and blinds haven't even made it to 100 and 200. Just was no fun to watch.!!

Obviously he's gathered up every player with those screen names and checked out their stats over a minimum 100k sample size and come to the conclusion that the 100s or thousands of players with screen names that match these are all fish

This is the most pointless post i have read on this forum. How can you come to that conclusion? poker names has got zero to do with a players skill.

Whilst I agree that the OP's example (names ending 'boi') might not be a particularly good one I think that a users choice of a table name can say something about them.

There are the 'I'm going to be first on the list' players whose name starts 'aaaaWhatever' or '_____Whatever'. It is possible that their priority is not the actual poker but their own ego. Of course players keep their names for years sometimes and there's nothing to say that they don't go on to become excellent players.

There are the 'Oh poo, my name is already taken' players so you get '1FRED', '11FRED' etc. To me this shows a lack of imagination which might be reflected in their play. Again the same caveat as above applies.

It's wrong to judge a book by it's cover but in the absence of any other information it's a place to start in trying to categorize a player.

I think its the brain mentality, danny-boi or jon boi tend to be commen/chavy terms for the average male.

alot of russians also play badly, though I did lose heads up to a couple of russians today on 18 mans

most fishes to me where from the european countrys

not sure what you are trying to say or ask? what do you mean where from the euro countries, grammatical/spelling error I assume but this is mostly because I can't see how you would mistake with were and where
were - statement of something that occurred
where - question of something that may or may not have occurred

hope this helps, and if I am wrong about the descriptions or anything else feel free to tell me ;)
also I think the best indicator of fish are results/stats that huds can help and also reads on there play patterns can help you target who is a fish, if you can't figure out who the fish is you are probably the fish

As cotta777 has succinctly noted, it is all to do with what kind of person is likely to have chosen such a username.

Whilst it is not an exact science, it is likely that the suffix "boi(iiiii)" will have been created by a chav of relatively low intellect, and as such will be a poor player. Imagine the type of person in the pub wearing Adidas joggers calling everybody "bruv".

There is, of course, the possibility that the suffix has been implemented by a solid player as a kind of reverse tell.

To all those claiming that usernames have no link to skill, imo you are being very dismissive.

If you want to identify fish in tournaments, use the vpip and AF from your holdem manager or pokertracker and after some hands you will know who's a fish
