I am getting ready to host my first poker night. I am so excited. The buy in is $20 and we plan to play 2 games. It starts in about 20 minutes and there are 8 people in it total. I can't wait. I hope i play well and I hope the night goes smooth!!!

Just Wondering

Are there places in States that gambling is not permitted to play poker without going to jail or something?

Thanks for the inspiration everybody. The night went very smooth. The game and the structure were great. The first game I came in third (got my money back) was all in pre flop with KK and lost to Pocket Aces. What timeng eh. The second game I was Short stacked on the bubble with A-Q, went all in, He had K,2 and hit QUAD kings. Ouch!! Oh well. Didn't want to make this a bad beat post but thats how the night went. All in All I played well. I made two bad reads all night. I got to practice my pot odds calling and the most important part was everyone was happy how I ran the night so that was cool.

Just shows, those "internet special" hands DO happen in real life!

Well done Sammy, sounds like it went well

Me and a few mates are having a game tonight, only £10 buy-in but should be a laugh

One guy has been bragging how good he is and he is going to take all our money, so I will enjoy taking his money off him!

It will be a blast I'm sure Colin. Play well, I hope you get a chance to knock out the "Bragger"!

Yes m8! There was 6 of us, 2 very inexperienced players but the other 3 knew what they was doing.

The bragger went out 2nd, he was folding hands like A 5 and A 9, so that explains it really. Only 6 seated and he wasnt even calling the blinds with these

I was heads up at the end and he went all in with A Qs and I called with pockets 8's. I hit the house and took home about $40. It was low buy-in due to the inexperienced players but I enjoyed it.

I dont mean to sound big headed but I would have enjoyed it more if the competition had been better.
