I feel that i've really made the poker big time now, as I have been offered my first final table deal. I was heads up on a $5 O/8 SnG at CDpoker when my opponent said he'd send me $5 if i let him win. I gave it some thought - I would have got the worse end of the deal ($9 +$5 = 14 for me, $21 - $5 = 16 for him), and of course there is the risk that he wouldn't pay me. That, and the fact I had over twice as many chips (LOL!!!) 4,200 to 1,800, made me say no.

He didn't last long after that.

paid $5.50 to enter $5. I had said that h2h would take ages - it was still 10/20 blinds, and maybe he though he was doing me a favour!

Oh great, now the chop comes to the online world?

10 years from now, they are going to have to have a hacksaw at the Main Event of the wsop to chop the bracelet in half. I swear to God, people today are not going to have any idea how to play heads up, 3 handed, 4 handed or even 5 handed.

I think that's a real shame, because to me heads up play is one of the real highlights of Texas Holdem. Once you're down to 1 opponent (or even 2), the game totally changes. bluffing, which is a very small element at full tables and still not usually a huge part of short-handed (6-person) play, becomes basically the central theme. Playing aggressive vs. passive, tight vs. loose, any and all choices are valid in heads-up play and you have to change it up constantly. It's one of my favourite elements of the game.

That's not to say that I wouldn't consider a deal if it was offered to me at a final table where the money mattered at all, but I would be disappointed if that became a "typical" ending to poker tournaments.

Fortunately, I might be mistaken but I believe poker players are highly competitive, which would cause them to err - sometimes even irrationally - on the side of risk, turning down even deals that made sense. So I am hopeful that this future will not come to pass!

Having recently made comebacks from 8 and 5 times the number of chips down when starting heads up im more than happy to slog it out.

Surely that is part of the game?

Not really a fan of deals, or the idea of them, 1st should be for the winner, 2nd for runner-up etc.

With the prizes as laid out at the start.

I don't care about the bracelet or the glory. All i want to do is finish 'in the money'. But give up my chance at picking up 1st place money? NOT A CHANCE,,lol.

Careful Rob, you never know when big-brother is watching. Couldn't that be considered a form of collusion? Maybe it's doesn't matter in heads-up when both players agree, but still, I would rather finish on my own merits.
