I busto'd today and I think this might be the end of my poker journey. I just can't seem to ever gain the traction I need to be a long-term successful player. I feel like I've played pretty well in spots and have run up my bankroll, but then I just get pummeled back to even.

I've read a ton of books. I've played a ton of cash game hands and a fair number of tourneys and sit n gos.

I feel like I have a pretty good general understanding of the game and a pretty decent understanding of the theory behind things like avoiding over-folding to avoid being exploited.

I don't want to be a mediocre player for the rest of my poker playing career. I try too hard and I have put too much effort into too many hands to continue this way.

I don't rely on poker as a means of support and have a great paying job, but poker has been a passion I have wanted to pursue for many years. I want to be a bracelet winner. I want to take down a six figure cash. I just want to be among the best, but here I am...stuck.

If you take the time to read this, thank you. I'm kind of at my wits end here and would love to hear what anyone has t say , or if you've been in a similar situation and have pulled through and how exactly you did it. I've never been one to shy away from hours or studying, but I just feel so stuck.

Reading strategy articles and books is always worthwhile, but are you studying your own game?

Do you play online? Are you using hand tracking software?

If so then you can review your hands.
Use an equity calculator to assess your decision making.
Post hands here for thoughts from other players.
Look at your stats and see if anything seems out of line; if you aren't sure what a normal range of values is for a winning player for a stat, do some Googling or ask here.
Look at what starting hands are profitable or unprofitable for you, and figure out why.
PT4 has a useful "Leak Tracker" for cash games, maybe other trackers have something similar.

If you are not winning, you have leaks. Make it your mission to find and fix them.

I think that you're just tired and you're need to take a break for a little wild) Then you can return to game with new powers. Don't be upset. Everything will be allright soon.

If you're able to build a bankroll but then if you get "pummeled" are you changing how you play from Successful to Leaker? Because you're winning you start to get sloppy?
Are you playing too many games? You've mentioned three types of games, which is really your best arena and why not stick to that.
I've just had a big cutback on the number of games I've been playing. I, like you, was playing a lot and different types of games. I've reviewed how I've played more. That's helping me think of a plan for the next few months.
Maybe you need a breather.
Not all of us will get a bracelet but winning enough each year for an expensive holiday would be great for me.
Take a couple of months off and have a break.
GL with whatever you choose

I think every player at one time feels like giving up the game, but maybe you just need to take a break and learn some new ideas and come back when you're feeling better.

I think Alex is right about the leaks,it`s fixable. It is a fine line between winning and losing.Your probably frustrated because your `right there`,,,stuck in between. As you know,it takes something `extra` to win,,,some like to call it `luck`but it`s not,,,it`s easier to say your `unlucky` or say that player is lucky than admit it`s you. Fix the leaks and nobody can touch you,,,,Good luck;)

What's your bankroll management strategy?

If you're able to run up a bankroll but then you lose it all back again, chances are you either don't have one, or you're doing it wrong. And that can make all the difference.

My honest advice, if online poker has not worked out, take a few sensible shots at live poker tournaments maybe. odds are good you could bink something. Keep your job (which you are blessed to have) and try this route out, i myself dont play online poker because the same thing that happened to you, happened to me. I play the occasional freeroll mostly.

I think you should sit down and review your history hands. You should review the losing hands and answer why you lost. Read more articles, watch more pro videos, take a break if you need and play more again. I think you will find out something new

Your situation don't need strategy books now you need some story (peoples experience) books now

You are not the only one facing this..

You need to look into some succesfull poker player survival story...

No not today's succesfull players who start from comfortable homes and laptops and stuffs...

You need to read the story of players from 80s 90s
who started from nothing and then lose all not some 1k 10k but in millions

But their attitude to never give up lead to you know how people reconize them now?
Legend not because they are really really good players but thier attitude to never give up...

What Im approaching is you need some motivation you may win today and lose tommorow but you cant say my journey is over when you face the losing streak...

If you already read Deal me in you might feel familar with my words but if you dont read it give it a try...

But remember you are not the only one facing what you are facing today so dont feel so low.....
Never give up 😊👌🎉🎉

Harsh Truth

I can put some motivational words to make you feel good, but what good will it do?

The truth is, POKER IS TOUGH. Most people just don't realize it, and I get it, its easy to be swayed by the aura of winning ("Hey, I won a few bucks, I've read some books. How tough can it be?"). Let me assure you, its not easy to make a million dollars in this day-&-age, where everyone's so competitive. You're putting in 10 hours on poker, well guess what? There are guys who're putting in 15-16. You've read 10 books, then there are guys who've read 50 and still want to read more. People are hungry, hungry for success and hungry for glory. And they'll do whatever it takes to get there. You want to give up? Sure, its your call. GIVING-UP IS EASY. Simple, just stop, and you won't have to deal with it. But if you WANT TO WIN, you want to get to the goals you've set for yourself, STOP SELF-PITYING, AND GEAR UP!

You want to be the best, do more than what the best are doing. If you cant handle it, the truth is you're not good enough.

So, the choice, the choice is entirely yours. CHOOSE WISELY!

I have emptied my roll many times and felt like you, my advice is to use the downtime to studying and come back ready, learning on the fly just doesnt work on poker.

many times the hard knocks do not make everything black, it has happened to me like you, but at times like this I can only say enjoy the game and let's play. changing the lens of our objectives helps not to push us so much

What's your bankroll management strategy?

If you're able to run up a bankroll but then you lose it all back again, chances are you either don't have one, or you're doing it wrong. And that can make all the difference.

This is a highly probable problem. Are you taking big shots that are losing your bank roll?

Quitting is fine, it's bouncing back later that separates the champions from the wannabes.

I looked at the statistics of your poker game !!! unfortunately you've never been a plus in poker !!! with this game you just do not have any reason to continue playing! I do not mean that you need to quit playing poker !!! you need to find a bug in the game and fix them !!! Of course it's very difficult to do this, but with a big desire it's possible !!! After each game, always take time to analyze your game (look for errors) !!! without analyzing your game you will never start to play a plus !!!! GOOD LUCK !!!!

Hi friend, if you think you have to take time out of the poker tables, do it. Poker is beautiful, but if it is not your way of life you do not have to worry, take care to enjoy this beautiful passion, dedicate a time to study that the results will arrive. Good luck at the tables.
