In SnG tournaments I sometimes find myself in 2nd place because I can't finish off the last remaining player...and sometimes I have thousands of more chips than they do.

I try and eat into their remaining chips, and then nearly everytime I try and go "all in" (with a good hand) to wipe them out, they beat my hand somehow.

Are they any tips to finishing off someone:D

What works for me is to just be patient. Almost everytime sitting 1st and 2nd I don't go all in before the flop, to try win. I always want to see the flop. Not to say I dont go all in or call an all in before the flop. just not sitting 1st and 2nd. You have to wear your oppenant down. Also there's nothing you can do about someone if there just keep going all in every hand. I have had that happen. At that point you pick the best and hope and pray. This is just what has worked for me though.

Be patient and wait for that one hand that cold deck's your opponent. Patience, patience, and more patience is the key.

good luck with that.. i suck @ heads up after a long tourney..
i end up busting out from fatigue..the old F-it approach..which is sooo wrong..

so i would say patience would be key..

Whatever you do, never, never, never fold the small blind, just call, you have position in the hand. If your opponent pops you, then you get to make the decision to see the flop.

You're priced in to make a call with any two cards. When I see someone fold the SB, I know I am up against a weak player.

If you have a good hand and you're the BB, raise 3xBB to try and win the pot then and there. What is a good hand? Any A, K or pair. Suited is better, but see a cheap flop with everyone's favorite, suited connectors below QJ.

This is poker at its best, do every thing you can to hone this part of your game. Right now there is a great thing on FT, the NBC heads ups qualifier freeroll. Great practice for this part of your game.

Patience is not the key at the end of these SNG because stacks are so short. Pretty much you want to play aggro and win a bunch of pots preflop. There is a huge difference between a HU match where both players start with 100BB and the end of the tourny where each may have 10. The smaller the stacks the wider you should be raising/pushing. A high hands are good here and better K high if someone has a short stack is probably fine, all pairs also if stacks are low.

suited connectors are also not very good anymore since they are more of an implied odds kind of hand and play better in multiway pots. If you are playing against a tight player you cna probably raise just about any two until he adjusts but sc shouldnt be specifically targeted if thats not the case.

The main key is to figure out what your opponant is doing. If they are tight just keep raising until they adjust, if they are crazy aggro just widen your range to go over the top since they are raising very wide. Dont just keep folding because if you ever even get a good hand a double up you will still usually be less than where you were.
