it is so hard to find time to play poker. how do you do it?
i work 55 hours a week, have a wife and a 2 yr old daughter. but my goal is to make poker a successful side income opportunity. which means if im going to play tournys, which in order to win, can take up to 5 hours, i would have to play on my 2 days off. But then there goes any valuable family time. its pretty stressful. once i build my side bankroll up, i feel like im lucky if i can squeeze in maybe 2 tournys a week... do u guys think thats enough time to be successful, coming from a decent player who has had pretty solid tournament poker history in the past. maybe the key is buying a reallyy sweet laptop that way i can be with the family and win poker at the same time

Usually, when I play poker I don`t like to be with anyone else. Just me, myself and I :) I`m not sure about poker and family at the same time ;)

tough to balance family time and work with mtt's. maybe sneak in some hyper turbo mtt's that are faster or sit n go's maybe?

Well you make it full time. Simple. Play certain games on Sunday if you want, thats sooo better.

Big fields and lot of recreational players on weekeneds. Easy to go forward. Serious players on week days.

Weekend Warrior. Have an 8 week old here myself and is near impossible to focus if I'm not alone... therefore I'm taking this time for micro MTTs and not afraid to lose much $- but still work on my game. I notice myself chasing a big stack early which probably isn't my best poker, but if I just early it's more quality time to help out

Maybe it's worth thinking about playing games that take less time? I believe that family is very important. I do not want you to regret later the lost time that you could spend with them.

I think buying a laptop would be a good solution. You can play in the tournament and spending time with family.

I don't want to invade your personal life or tell you what to do since it's none of my business but personally I would not use family time to play poker. Family should always be placed first and any available time with them should be valued more than gold! I see where you coming from, 55 hrs a week is definitely stressful and consumes all your time, is tourneys your only passion? How about looking into hyper sit n go's where you can invest less time in and still make a profitable side income?

I am really lucky - working a live-in position for the person who require maybe 2 hours of your time daily leaving the rest of the day free to do whatever, playing poker in my case :) So I suppose playing mtt's or anything for a couple of hours is either for people like me who have plenty of free time during the day, or are willing to sacrifice more important things. I feel for you, whenever I am having a break and go back home for a week or so I spend all my time with family and never play. On the other hand, if you have a dream of playing poker for living it will never happen unless you make time.

Yes it is hard to find time to play, but if you like it you always will find a few hours to play, i know it from my opinion.

Every time I win young tickets, it usually played at a late time, or on days that I have to work

In mtt it will be complicated for you to reconcile time, family, dedication and concentration. You will lose focus. It's best to try to delve into sit's.
