Let's have a fun poker thread! Not sure if this would better fit here or the players lounge but stuff there is mostly poker unrelated while this certainly seems a poker related topic so I will be posting it here..

What fictional characters do you think would excel at poker and why?
What are some of the ficitonal series you've read/watched where a character uses his skills to excel at poker?

Personally I have to go with Sherlock Holmes. His observational skills and brainpower would make him a beast at this game. Good luck hiding those tells and trying to out-math him.

In this case I think that Professor Xavier 's X -Men. He can read the minds of others. That would be the best power to a poker player .

Haha I should have made the thread be about fictional NORMAL poker players.

Still, if we are going with people with superpowers, I think having the power of luck would be the greatest thing to have. If you had the power of luck, it wouldnt matter if Xavier would be reading your mind because you could just go all in without even having to look at your cards and it wouldn't matter if you played vs a supercomputer because you would always win even if you had just some 0.1% chance of winning. Of course, someone who could mind control could just make you fold every single hand but I am sure luck would take care of that too.

Haha nice topic!
I give a vote for Flash, I think he can watch the cards or even reshuffle them while others will be sitting and won't suspect anything))

TOP SECRET!!!The most famous program Polaris from "The University of Alberta Computer Poker Research Group (CPRG)" only plays limit hold'em (which in effect limited the rates much more dependent on mathematics and is suitable for algorithmization than no-limit hold'em). And just a heads-up, playing one-on-one. But this program is able to play a specified variation of poker very well. :D
