I'm curious to know what you're thoughts are on womens style of play? (in lower stakes). Of course it's very individual but if you were to generalize..?

You just can't generalize it - look at Hille and Baumann from this years ME. Practically opposites. Not to even mention Selbst.

There are certain generalities you can always count on in Poker.

1) Hispanic players are Loud at the table, especially if ther'e behind in the hand.

2) Older players NEVER bluff.

3) Special Needs Players know what your cards are.

4) Players under 24 are NEVER ahead when they 3bet.

5) Irish Players have more than "coffee" in that hot-cup.

6) French players are always given plenty of personal space at the table for good reason.

7) Black players never play events if there is snow outside the casino.

8) Russian players will bet EVERY hand no matter the cards.

9) Players wearing hoodies will raise in position every hand no matter the holdings.

10) Women ALL play uber tight and only open with tier 1 hands.

:banghead:

If they distract you with cleavage, distract them by wearing a T-shirt with a pic like Honey's avatar.....

Well, since Tammy knows where I live, I'd make sure my affairs were in order, will updated & such stuff, then I'd say to myself, " self,' does this thread pass the, say it out loud test, then I'd delete it.
But, that's just me. ;)

That's like asking male poker styles..

You can't generalize it..

There are a few "standard" types of playing styles.

TAG, LAG, Passive and that's for both male & female..doesn't matter if your male/female or mixed gender.

basing it on gender, gets a female with equal skills an edge

This is probably true because men.. including myself have ego issues when it comes to getting beat by a girl lol so i think its easy to make crazy plays against a girl that i normally wouldnt.. to try to intimidate or something... (never works)

Oh, and in an online game full of strangers, how can you tell for sure which players are men anyway, and which ones women? (it always amuses me what assumptions are revealed when tilt monkeys berate me with comments like "stupid American boy")

Well I will generalize. Most women I have encountered are very easy to read.

That is all.

That is because most poor poker players are very easy to read, so therefore most men are easy to read as well.

I hear ya. But I have only sat with one or two female players who were skilled. But they were still transparent.

I have sat with many dudes that are skilled and tough to read.

However, there aren't many female players.

And I wasn't really being 100% serious anyways. I evaluate every player individually.

I only play online tables, apart from one visit to Vegas a few years ago. My wife's style is ultra conservative. She will very rarely raise and prefers to have what she sees as the security of the flop before committing any serious chips. This approach has worked reasonably well in pokerstars and she's won a few minor prizes, but overall she tends to fold her way out of competitions.

My daughter is a honest to goodness genius. I spent every evening for two weeks teaching her to play. After two weeks she created an account on one of the membership sites I used to play on and won the very first tourney she entered.

She was smart enough to act a little dingy when her boyfriend's buddies were discussing plans for poker night and she asked if she could play. She said she could tell they had watched too much WPT. She said they didn't have a clue about hand selection, were easy to read, and didn't know how time their bluffs. The next week when she showed up with her boyfriend to play, they all swore they weren't having poker night that weekend, and waited for her to leave before starting the game. After that, her boyfriend was told if he brought her again, he wouldn't be invited anymore.

Some of the best poker players I've played with were females. But some of the very worst poker players I have ever played with have been females. All the rest have been men.

They really excluded her like that? That's silly. And on top of that they told her boyfriend he would not be invited if he brought her again?

What a bunch a sore losing donks. It's just a homegame right?

Yeah, it was just their little home game. She crushed it like Emily Chang in that Ruffles commercial. Bah-zing! She was still a little pissed when she told me about. She called them a bunch of "little bitches". That's my baby girl.

I tell her she should play online. With school and work she doesn't really have the time to get into it, though.

I don’t generalize personally. I just ask because it’s interesting to learn how people in the poker scene think and reason, rather than to get information on womens style of play. Of course it’s just as individual among women as it is among men and if there are fewer skilled female players it’s probably because they are fewer in general (and some of the comments on here might explain why that is).

Well obv we shouldn't generalize but ....

...I hate playin' with some of them bees in ladies only on RPM. Honestly dunno what it is, but most of them play as tho they are playing with play chips and just play any two cards in hopes of catching!! And most often than not, they DO....FFS!!
