This is about all you can do. If you can't tolerate bad beats, etc. than poker isn't for you.

Well you could just play good...
just kidding, best thing to do is just move up in stakes to regain your losses quickly.

dont do that moving up when you are running bad is the worst thing to do. Take a break and then start back at your current level or even move down a level until your confidence returns.

Suggest that if you really think about it, you should never feel bad no matter what the outcome for the following reason: You're playing a game with people all over the world and are lucky enough to be able too play with "expendable" money for fun...not too many people have that opportunity.. Know this is kind of deep, but had to come up with something, I was getting too depressed losing all the time.

generally i just think how lucky i actually am, to be living in a free coutnry, have money, friends and family.. a lot of people do not have what you got.... thinking about that.. now a bad run of cards just doesnt seem that important does it>>

I don't think he was talking about bad luck, he said when he himself performs poorly. I know the feeling, I think it's best to just have a short memory, think about all the good times, and get better. Read a page of a poker book or something.

well at least he knows when he performs poorly... should be an easy fix... focusing on negatives is good, as it means that you will improove..

Yea once in a while i guess it happens but not a lot. My advice would actually yea be to take a break that doesnt mean dont play for a month it can be as short as half an hour up to maybe a month it all depends on the person. It is so important to go into your game confident and with a good head on your shoulders, ive found most of the time in my experience preparation plus right game selection is everything.

It is good to go away after a poorly played session and keep thinking about the poor plays you made, that is how we Identify leaks in our game and fix them, Don't just sit there and brood about how bad you played, get the HH's out and go over them and work out why you did what you did, and what you should have done.
It takes work to get better.

That's a classic. It should go in the Golden Archieves. I can tell you what else not to do. Continue to play non-stop all night trying to win to make yourself feel better. I've tried a few times and it does not work.

I have similar problems. '
Losing through my own bad play is the worse thing I know.
When I lose money I feel down, and when I win, I stop playing, cause I dont want to risk losing my winnings that day. Its really bad for my long term profit, but trying to work though it.
If you are losing cause you are playing bad, then eat, sleep spend quality time with your IRL's. After that get back in the saddle.

Positive mind and positive will occur.

The reverse also appears to be true at times.

I try to get over it quickly by saying "NH Eeyore" in the chatbox if it's online. Sometimes I call them Eeyore when it's really a mistake I made and should have played differently but it makes me laugh so I do it anyway. It prevents me from tilting.

The biggest mistake I make is limp in EP with monsters. I love the huge payoff though when it does work to my advantage. That would be the times when I am wishing I raised one of the blinds who flopped two pair with crap out of the hand and I kick myself for knowing better and still playing it that way.

I like to use bad English and type something like "donkey u".

Of course they can mouse over and see that I'm from the states but if it gets me over a beat so be it.

More general session to session don't let down sessions bother you. It's part of the game.

I never get depressed if I lose cos I made mistake. I try to learn from it. But I can get very upset if I play well and I lose eg. 80% preflopallins.
Last time on Full Tilt I lost with AA and a few hands later I lost with KK and that was the end of my tourny. I stopped playing there cos it made me angry a bit. So I just play frees there for a while. :)
There are many rooms on internet, so if you feel that you cant win in one, go to the other. I usually do it.

When I make a poor play it makes me more angry than a bad beat.

For example yesterday in a SNG FIRST hand some ones goes all in with A6s and i call with KK and he hits his ace on the flop. - slightly annoying

But earlier i was chip leader in a SNG with only 4 people left and I called a huge all-in from the other big stack on the river with a set of kings..i thought he might have the straight but i called at the last second and crippled myself...i know I should never have got involved and it left me very annoyed.
