Theres so many out there, not just here in the US but all over the world. I mentioned in another thread that High Stakes Poker is the best on TV right now. But it made me think, is it really? Am I missing a cool poker show overseas??

So what is the best poker program right now on TV?

I think High Stakes Poker is best. I heard they are replacing AJ in the next season so it will be interesting to see how this turns out if it's true.

HSP definitely has the best cash games. PAD has some of the best lineups but just doesnt have the excitement that HSP incites in its viewers.

WSOP2009 was of a very high quality, only comes around once a year though. not much of a fan of WPT... the rest are sh!t imo.

The WSOP is by far my favorite poker show. ESPN does a great job covering the event and Norman is hilarious.

I think High Stakes Poker is best. I heard they are replacing AJ in the next season so it will be interesting to see how this turns out if it's true.

It's true - they announced Kara Scott as his replacement months ago: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/general-poker-13/high-stakes-poker-co-host-named-164220/

And yeah, HSP is far and away my favourite poker show.

Tournament shows bore me to death for the most part - though the WSOP at least has good production values. One thing I've really enjoyed over the years is the Aussie Millions cash game episodes. There's only about four of them a year though so I don't think they really count.

WSOP is my favorite. I always like the addition of amateurs to an event. I like the fact that the money will change there lives and there not just playing from tourney to tourney. I think Norman Chad is really funny and I enjoy his commentery. I dont think you have to be an established pro to be a good commentator or color man.

Poker after dark has some good lineups but I think they could use more commentating. Seems like you can go minutes with only hearing chips shuffle.

I really like the WPT but it hasnt been the same since it left the travel channel of the Game Show Network. Now the shows are cut to just one hour and I cant find that they have a routine time that they come on. Hope they can get back soon to a better network.

Kara Scott? :/ but Gabe and AJ bantering is a necessary part of the show! :(

Meh - discussed in greater detail in the thread I linked to, I really don't think AJ was that important though.

for me its:

1. HSP. easy decision here. best line up. seems like a high % of hands are shown. i even like Gabe and AJ. btw, is Sammy Farha gonna be on this years show? its gonna be interestin to see how Kara Scott works with Gabe, i think it should be good.

2. Million Dollar Cash Game in London. good line up. dont like the guys givin the play by play tho. i do like how there is a winner and a count of who is winning and losin.

3.PAD cash games. 6 max and decent line up.

4. Aussie Million Cash Game. its pretty good.

5.WSOP. it the best tourney show for sure. lots of history and prestige. dont mind Lon and Norman at all.

not a big fan of the tourney shows cause im more of a cash game fan and player and because of the low % of hands shown even tho its understandable.

honorable mention goes to the Premier League. it has an interesting structure and a good line up. more of a marathon then a tournament and a little more strategy.

big thumbs down to the WPT. very low % of hands shown. someone can go from the chips leader to a short stack or be knocked out and nothin would be said about it. some pretty bland line ups too. if it werent for mike sexton i would never even bother.
