The new Face the Ace show is the biggest joke of a poker show. That fat ass host from the Soprano's is the worse. Absolutely no persona of excitement whatsoever. They should have gotten Phil Gordon for the spot. Despite the bore of Celebrity Showdown, Gordon was right on the money with his viewer commentator.

Next are the contestants. The are horrible freerollers. The lady which was the last player on episode 2 over played Ace / 10 off in the BB. Please......... Gus flopped 10s full. Prior to her was the Cellar Dweller lol. He was playing his hands a bit too fast. Should of raised the min. on his button. On one hand preflop, he over bet his raise! He shoulda ate the entire pie of pizza offered to him. He woulda went home with a Coke and a smile along with his story from Vegas.

I hope the next contestant can use some actual sense of playing the game as oppose to playing the cards in front of him. Nuff said for now until the next episodes air.

Yeah Face the Ace is not that exciting of a show but I still wish I was the one going for a million. Robert you are right, the host is a absolute joke. They should of got an announcer who knows the game of poker. His stupid jokes about the contestants is so uncool as well. I will still watch the show though because I'm addicted to poker, weather it be on TV or playing it online.

I've only seen half of one show so far, but wasn't terribly impressed. The guy was playing Gavin Smith, and Gavin looked pretty bored. What's his incentive to beat the contestant? Is he paid extra if he does?

I didn't really understand the thing with the pizza. Is it supposed to be a distraction?

The contestants are not pros. I would think most would be nervous playing HU's on TV against a pro. HU is very different play as well. Kinda easy to also say what someone should do when you know what each players hole cards are.

I challenge you to best two out of three HU on PS. I will make three $1.10 private tournaments and we will see how you do!!! I call it the CC face the Trigga!!!

I agree that the show is dull. Ali Nejad wasn't very good when he started on Poker After Dark, but he got better.

Unfortunately the Sopranos-Guy host does not have an established professional poker history to reach back on so he's basically a fish out of water, with (as far as I know) no hosting experience.

The contestants beat tens of thousands of people to get on that show. You have to get lucky to get there, but you can't get that lucky.
The trip, lights, national exposure/scrutiny probably effect their game a *lot.* So I give them a little slack.

Watched both episodes of face the ace. Smartest guy was the first one he walked with 40k. The show isn't amazing or real great, but it is a poker show on non cable tv. Better than nothing would rather watch poker after dark episodes. Like poker after dark the could get a hot host to make it better.

I thought it was an interesting idea for a show. Just badly put together. It wasn't a hit in the ratings, and the next episode won't air til September when the show moves to Saturday afternoons.

Broadcast schedule: Saturdays on NBC
· August 1, 2009 – 9:00pm ET
· August 8, 2009 – 9:00pm ET
· September 12, 2009 – 2:00pm ET
· October 31, 2009 – 5:00pm ET
· November 14, 2009 – 3:00pm ET
· December 12, 2009 – 3:00pm ET
· January 2, 2010 – 2:30pm ET

The pros are playing for charity. If they win they get a donation to their favorite cause.

I havent even thought about watching this because all the reviews I have read said it is just boring and shot wrong.
I agree Trigga that it is hard to judge play by seeing whole cards and they must be nervous on national tv playing a pro.
And the fact that the pros are playing for charity is pretty cool to me.

I fall asleep; too old to sit 'n watch; guess Gavin beat the million challenger. I know anyone of you would love a shot at a million. It is an interesting idea ... the pros are the ones with the poor attitude, e.g., aren't you cute to come 'n try to beat us .... . Yet it is the only TV coverage of poker games that hubbie has shown real interest in.

i agree with jaggibson... more poker on national TV.... more exposure can't be a bad thing when we are all praying for the laws to change.

I am guessing that you have to freeroll in based on the legalities of Poker in the US (??) therefore, no buying into a qualifying tourney if you are from a non-legal state for online poker in the US... in other words... no state allowed. Perhaps someone else who knows more can clarify

Certainly not for a mere $1.10.

Wow, you don't even quote my post, you just totally ignore it!?!? It's not about the money, and for some reason I thought you would ignore my challenge completely or say that it wasn't enough money. It doesn't matter how much we are playing for!!! I hate when someone says it's not for enough money, what a Joke!!!

Robert_wrath, you are now going to feel the wrath of Trigga!!! How much would you like to play for? And don't go saying some ridiculous amount that you don't even have in your BR. I would say the pride you are playing for is worth more than the money, but what do I know. Name your price Robert, lets do this!!!

I actually enjoy more poker after dark than the wsop. In fact the wsop 2009 season Is full weird players, I saw a k9o vs kj all-in. the players werent even in late position!!

Painful to watch. Any "reality" show with artificial formats pretty much sucks imo. But poker won't ever appeal to those not interested in poker, and we just want to watch good poker.

While we're on topic of TV poker, wtf is up with WSOP this year? No non holdem events?
