It seems to me that donks either play the smallest stakes or the high stakes.. Actually, everyone I know who likes poker doesn't play at all to try and beat the game/profit from it... Not 100% true, some kinda wanna beat it but at the same time its only entertainment to them..

So I talk to a few of my friends about online poker as it is new to them.. I explain bankroll management, stakes you should play starting out, ect.

...

...

They look at me like I'm crazy and say why the hell shouldn't we play $10 tournaments/SNGS and $1/$2 NL games?? Sure I'll play pennies for practice, any other games are just retarded..

I asked more people about what they would do/play on online poker and pretty much they said the same thing.. So wtf?

$10 and 1/2 are lowstakes, low to mid anyways... most 'donks' who play in the highstakes are either super rich, or won a sattelite somehow.

but i dont really know what your getting at here...

Your friends are the prime example of players that will say online poker is rigged, because they lose ALL their money that they deposit due to a bad beat.

You know that if you follow proper BRM and you are a winning player, you can't go broke. But they take their $200 deposit, sit down at a $1/$2 NL game, lose AA vs KK 'cause villain flopped a King. Now they have lost their entire online roll.

If they want to continue to play for fun, depositing all the time, please let them. These are the players you and I make money from.

It's true that fish are at evry level. From the guy who won a freeroll to rich guys who want to play for fun. There are just more at the lower levels as at the higher levels people have worked their way up.

Don't think I could have put it better myself. I have a friend who insists he is good enough to play 0.5/1 omaha, and he may very well be capable to play it. However, he doesn't ever get the picture that his bankroll cannot afford to play at that level. So he'll say double or triple his BR and then lose it all the next day to 2 bad beats. And protest to me that it's rigged. It's not rigged at all, just a badbeat that you couldn't control at your level.

Don't bother trying to get rich playing on the internet that's were all the donks are in low/high stakes it's just too easy for them to sit at home, make a deposit and play like an idiot. Go play with real people because the way I see it a donk isn't going to get into their car and drive to a real game that's too much trouble for a rookie.

I like to find stag parties were I can go in and play with real people or there is always a poker tourney going on near me, the web is were I just practice and past the time.

exactly, thats why you can make money off online poker..... if you want to make money, you need to play against bad players, if you want to test yourself, play against good players..

Donkeys are everywhere Low stakes and high and in the middle all averages out, the issue here is when i first started i was playing like $10 tournaments with a $50 bankroll it was stupid however i learned bankroll management and even though im down at the moment using this method I'm slowly building back up. Donkeys will always be around poker is in a mess these days.

At similiar buyin levels I find way worse players on the live tables compared to online.
Take a winning player at $5/$10 at your local casino,.... put them on the $5/10 online and they'll be busto within a month.

Whenever I play live tournaments I'm always shocked by the hands I see people playing & playing them badly (ie. J6 suited (or any suited facecard) seems to be good to with to call off out of position). OR the huge overpot river shoves with absolutely nothing. I see this stuff and worse all the time.

The levels don't matter much, some people just have too much money to have it matter. They happen to be the ones who don't want to learn how to play. lol

Last night on bodog, some idiot tried to slow-play aces thinking he was going to stack another player. Well another Ace came on the river giving him trips but it also brought a flush for the other player. I just had to rub it into Mr. Pro that he played his aces horriffically via the chat. Of course, he busted out a very short time later. Sometimes there is justice.

From my opinion donks are everywhere. A player who have a lot of money is plaing in most time like a donk because he think he is the king.
They just spend a lot of money but they realy don't care , they have more.

I think most donks play low stakes because thats how much they can afford because people that play the high stakes if they were donks they wouldn't be there for too long and plus there is more at risk and donks would probably throw it away by then.

There are donks anywhere. And trust me. I have seen donks in casinos when I was playing 5/10. I saw this old man who called an all-in bet of 300 blinds pre-flop with Ace 5 suited while shover had pocket Aces. Technically, those people would sell their grandmother to call all-in bets with Ace 5 suited during pre-flop. There are donks anywhere in any stakes. Statistically, there are more donks in lower stakes but the reason is because there's no incentive and motivation. Nobody's going to fear a bet of 40 cents even when they're not getting a right price to call whereas many will fear a bet of $150 if they only have gutshot draw when they're not getting a right price to call. Higher the stakes, serious the game becomes. But donks still exist.

I saw Phil Ivey call a $30,000 pre-flop raise by Durrr on Poker After Dark and he had a 63 of clubs. Huh? $30,000 to see a flop? Also, he went all in at the wsop FT with AK off, which isn't as bad, but still donk type play. Everybody donks, sometimes.

I agree that calling a big pre-flop raise with 6-3 could be considered by some as a "donk" move but I assure you that Ivey had his reasons - maybe a read he had on Durrrr, etc.

As far as the WSOP goes - I guess you don't know that much about poker but Ivey was EXTREMELY short stacked at the time (although he made plenty of mistakes previously to that hand, that was def. not one of them) so his only choice with that type of hand would be to push - that's just ABC poker - nothing remotely donkish about that.
