An interesting dynamic took place at the FT of the EPT main event in Barcelona. Joni Jouhkimainen started as the SS with around 1.5 million. Due to a couple of lucky double ups he gained a working stack and began to use it; 3,4 and 5 betting it up, through sheer aggression, to over 21 million and 75% of the chips in play; 3 handed by the dinner break with I. Shamies (zigman) a fellow Finn, along with Mikail Pobal the lone “outsider”. It seemed the young 20 year old had the game well in hand as he bet relentlessly and remained completely stoic and stone faced; glaring his opponents down. The dinner break changed all that.

When he and Shamies returned they were smiling and laughing and sporting cheap party hats sold by street vendors on every corner. Soon all the railing Finns were wearing them as well as the camera crew. Jokes were made and the drinks began (continued???) to flow. The young Finn was obviously not the same staunch and sober player.

In short, his huge lead dwindled then disappeared. He went out in third. Zigman soon followed; leaving the only none imbiber, the outsider and long shot with the over 1 million euro first prize.

This should lend itself to some discussion. Did Zigman and/or his friends (agents) ply the kid with drink knowing full well that he (zigman) could handle the sauce much better than the kid? Any other morals to this story?

The kid should learn to avoid drinking and his friends.
