What format do you usually purchase your poker books, I have generally steared towards printed when available....although electronic kindle versions of books have been catching my eye lately as it makes it easier to multitask when working on the computer and still able to browse and read through parts of a book.

Something I notice however that I wonder about is the prices. With many of them, just looking at amazon for example the kindle version is significantly cheaper than the printed version while some others they have exactly the same price. What's up with that I wonder? I can understand with some newer books, but even some not so new books are like it.

I also wish that if you purchased the printed version that it came with the electronic version, kinda sucks that if you want both you have to pay for both especially if they are the exact same prize regardless of the format.

Anyhow just something I thought it would be fun to chat about and get some poll results on.

Cheers

Electronic ....could read through Cellphone.
hard copy is not for portable.

but hard copy is easy to make some notes...though electronic notes could be made as well but seldom do this.

I tend to like my books in hard copy, you will always have it. Electronic copies scary me somewhat because if you break your device or get a new one you got to find it on your purchases and reinstall it. They are usually cheaper than hard copies though.

@xxpxxp: Yeah electronic are definitely more portable, and conveinient to be able to read if already doing something on the computer but we are usually not giving it our full focus then either as distractions are only a click away.......so are we getting the same out of our time spent reading an e-book as opposed to a more focused reading of a hard copy?

@johnson: I'd always keep multiple copies around of e-books I purchase so you wouldn't run the risk of losing it, probably have a copy of a couple I have in at least two email accounts plus 1-2 computers.....and always an option to print and put in a binder so like sunny said you could make notes on it easily.........that does end up taking up more room on a shelf than the book though.

Most seem to be like only 30% at most and many 20-25% the cost of the printed version although had looked at a couple that i was thinking about purchasing but didn't want to buy the print copy because it was pricey and well I have spent probably too much the last 6-8 months on books as it is that I havn't read yet and figured well maybe e-books, I could read it easily when not busy at work etc. Well a couple I looked at where the exact same price and another was only 8$ cheaper so from 78 down to 70.

Now I wish i had e-books for a number of the hard copy books I had so would be easy to read them in down time at work, but to have to pay for them again if I wanted them kind of sucks.

So lately I have been downloading the sample kindle's from amazon and getting a preview to some possible purchases in the future..........so I guess also a bonus of being able to preview before purchase as opposed to ordering blindfolded hard copies from the net.

ive always read all books and now love reading things online honestly and to own say 2000 books as have in past? Is a lot easier to maintain especially with my gypsy lifestyle of never staying too long in a house lol.

I have only read a few poker books suggestions anyone?

There are certainly lots of books to read, suggestions IMO would be determined by what you have already read, what levels of the game your beating and which area you play or your interests lay (ie. cash, sng's, mtt's etc).

But yes certainly easier on space to keep a library of e-books than it is hard copy books, just something to be said about sitting back with a good book though :D

I vote hard copy books. For whatever reason I can never keep a focus reading an e-book. There are too many potential distractions and it feels too artificial.

kindle paperwhite all the way. you have no idea how is good to read without lights on, laying on a side on the bed, without keep the pages open when laying on the back etc. It does not feel artificial, i bet 90% of people who says that 'prefer' paper, has actually never tried a device created specifically for electronic reading

I voted Kindle for lower ebook prices, but sometimes I have trouble reading hand examples on my device, specifically in Jonathan Little's books on tournament play.

I prefer to learn from books. I like to flip back and forth on the things that are interesting to me. Generally, I prefer printed books than the web version.

I have Super System 2 in hard print & a lot of books in pdf (for exemple Super System 1, Little Green book, Harrington's stuff). Still have to read a lot of the E-books, wished I had them in hard-copy because it's indeed nicer to read!

Poker books or otherwise I find myself reading all my material electronically! It's so much more convenient - I can pull out my phone any time I have a spare minute and read! Love it!

There are only two reasons why hard print book bad... Printed book is usually more expensive and delivery books takes approximately two months when you order from another country.

I choose the printed book, because it will be much quicker assimilated information you can read it anywhere, and view desired information quickly...

Tbh, I think that besides cardschat, which is where I learned 99% of everything I know pokerwise( the stuff that made me better that is), the only other method I use to learn are YouTube poker vids by different coaches such as gripped etc etc

Really like the cash hands analysis section as well. Books are just too boring in my opinion.

I like electronic better because these books are always very big and clunky. Can't get comfortable reading them. But if it's normal fiction I like small paperbacks.
