As I was playing on Titan it seems to me that betting patterns are slightly affected by the avatar displayed. I use the blond bimbo avatar and I get more calls and people saying I'm bluffing when using that one than when I used the British lesbian one.
Just wondering here, do you think that the avatar subtily affects ones betting style?

Funny you should mention this because I have recently been thinking about something similar. I've been thinking that avatars are a good way of remembering someone which is a bad thing really....

You see for example If someone is raising a lot and has a noticeable avatar, lets say for example a famous celebrity, it is easier to remember your being raised a lot by 'Brad Pitt' than if there was no picture at all. I know that a good player will notice whether there is a picture or not but maybe it is something ot think about?

I have noticed people pick on the blonde bimbo more than any other avatar. I don't adjust my play toward the avatar though, as I think people use them for deception.

I like the Blonde Bimbo myself. I prefer the birdseye view. But that's really not the point of the post. is it?

I would have to say that since poker is a psychological game as well as a card game a well picked out avatar can do a lot for a player. For example how many of you guys out there will call a girl that plays in a live game with nothing alot. Be honest you have a higher tendency to call them because they have boobs and you dont think they can play. I have seen many newbies fall into this trap in live games. When the reality is they are a fish on the ladys fishing pole. So to answer the post I think a avatar can add lets say a 10% advantage to a player if its the right one.

Interesting thread. Saw an avatar on PS that was just text - "I Value Bet +EV" Gotta think that if someone takes the time to make the as an icon, he might actually know how to play...

I find that a higher % of woman are decent players. I play mostly live and on the internet you don't know if it a woman or not.

If I sit at a Table with 3 woman, usualy 1 is decent and another one is good. While the remaining 6 men I face, probably 2 to 3 are decent to good.

Now this formula doesn't hold at Imperial Palace. It is rare to find a good player there at all and even having more than 1 decent player at the table is rare. The better locals stay away because it has a free rollers mentality. Big preflop raises with weak suited ace like A,8 and and callers with any 2 face cards. Stuff like that. More Keno type gambling mentality there.
