I know a bunch of people hate the electronic tables for live poker. Would you consider trying it if just the chips were electronic? Real cards. Real dealer.
I play online, but I want to add live play. I am just dreading the slow hands per hour. Wishing casinos would get some great quality echips. Maybe each player could have 2 screens/keypads just in case one breaks. Make sure everyone can see how much everyone has easily too. Also I think each person should have a real chip to fiddle with lol. Maybe there could be a place to set it if the person is sitting out or something like that so there is no confusion if they are just getting up to stretch.
I really wish we could have this, but there would be a lot of resistance so it would need to be high quality.

Would you try it? Why or why not? What would make it better? Has it been done?

I don't think that such technology mix will become popular. People who love to play online prefer the high speed caused by the fully electronic system and people who like to play live love having real chips in front of them. I play both online and live and personally would never change the real chips with some kind of electronic system.

Making only the chips electronic in a live game will not really speed up play as its the gathering of the cards, shuffling and dealing that are the things that make poker go slow.

E-tables, as they are now (all electronic) are already a good compromise between live/online play as you have the speed of online play plus the ability to see your opponent as you are all there playing live.

No.

Dealing with your chips is part of the game. How you stack them, handle them, count them, etc..

The hardest part of live poker for me is keeping track of everyone's stack size in tournament play.

You know, they have this for roulette, but nothing beats the real thing. Live Poker players love their chips and the flow of the game. They don't want it to be sped up.

In addition, there would be confusion and technical complications. Since they are dealing with real money, the casinos aren't going to want to venture into that territory. Not yet anyway.

I would definitely be resistant to it. Part of playing live is the interaction, trying to pick up tells, etc. I think an electronic table would seriously minimize this, even if there were real cards and a real dealer.

this time, it already exists. however you have to be an elite player. the greats play live, and many of them have come out of electronic poker. no comments your post

man seems like poker poker live almost different game entirely and i much prefer the interaction with people and being able to shuffle physical chips it is much easier to keep off tilt live you have so much time on your hand that you can fold few hands decompress and move on online man no time to think just more cards coming and you literally just start spewing money away so easily if your not careful and man so hard to trust computer to be 100 percent accurate on rng im a forever skeptic and would always prefer a true random deal

Probably not. It's the player lag time that slows down live play. Auto shufflers speed the game up, but the delays while drinks are delivered, big play on tv, and the deep thought on every big hand slow down the live game.

In fact at least for me slowness of the live game compared with online is not a problem.Yes you play much lower amount of hands but by changing the blinds, starting chips and the time between different levels you can easily create tournament which will continue for example 3 hours just like a normal online MTT.

I'd probably pass on this type of game honestly.

Hello, have a look at www.proxylay.com, I have a provisional patent for this invention and i am in the process of prototype development. You can play from home for real money, on real tables, using real chips and cards in hands while connected to an online casino.
for interaction purposes you can connect the layouts to a giant screen. you have a function to hide your cards on the screen so that you peak at them manually from attached displays that look like playing cards. Cheers
