Have you ever seen a player totally misread their hand? I mean so badly that you wonder if they shouldn't be playing 'Go Fish', or 'Old Maid'?

This thread is for just such stories.

Share yours here. Naturally, these are all going to be recollections of live games, whether in a home game or casino or other live event.

The Board Plays - or Does It?

It is a home game with mostly seniors.
Two players go to the river/showdown.

The board is
Q Q A Q Q

Player A bets. Player B sits and ponders whether or not he should call! Other players offer hints.
"The board plays."
"What is the problem?"
"You have Quad Queens and an Ace kicker, what are you thinking about?"

For at least a whole minute, this guy ponders whether or not to call the bet. The size of the pot is irrelevant. He just does not see that he will be chopping the pot with the other player.
Finally, after suffering through the guy's indecision, everyone convinces him to call the bet and chop the pot.
He was holding King-Rag and did not realize that his pocket cards were useless.

This player regularly visits casinos within a 5 hour drive of home.

Thankfully, this guy has a large enough bankroll to cover the frequent visits he makes to his wallet during an evening of poker.

That's bad, but I've seen someone raise under the mistaken notion that the Ace in his hand would play.

Live 4/8 game, guy flopped quad queens on QQQ flop and bets the whole way... gets raised on the river, asks 'do you have it?, shows the fourth queen and folds....

No he didn't have it... you did! SMH.

Lol was that guy drinking funny story?
Lot of times when you call a big bet and people say I thought I had a flush in live poker:D
but I do not know if this is genuine mixing diamond with hearts and clubs with spades because of colour of the cards or whether they are just embarrassed because you called their bluff.:)

No drinking involved from what I could tell - just a new player who got confused I guess?

I did have a few drinks after losing to the players in said game lol... But we don't control the results, least of all, in no fold-em hold-em.

Most people know when they are bluffing but still try to play it off like they made a mistake. I proudly turn over all my bluffs and hope my opponent somehow mucks their hand (hasn't happened yet).
