Dusk Till Dawn (DTD), Europe’s largest card room, will be attending Nottingham Magistrates Court on September 24th for its Casino License hearing. If it’s successful, it will become the UK’s first legal poker club.

However, the club’s opening is being challenged by three casinos, Gala, Stanleys and London Clubs International who are all objecting on the grounds of “insufficient demand.”

Rob Yong, Managing Director of DTD, says: “This has nothing to do with ‘insufficient demand’, it’s just an attempt by the big boys to keep a stranglehold on their monopoly. They only care about profits and not about their players.”

The hearing is expected to last four days from September 24th – 28th and on the final day the three magistrates sitting on the case will give their verdict and make a historic decision.

The club has already gained a Certificate of Consent (a major step in acquiring a Casino License) and, in a historic move, is the first club ever to have been given the full backing of the Gaming Board.

If the court rules in favour of DTD, the club will open shortly afterwards and will be capable of seating 405 players at any one time. This is almost four times larger then any other card room in the UK.

It will also create over one hundred new jobs and significant revenue for the city of Nottingham in the form of additional taxes and increased tourism, as the club will host major international poker tournaments.

Hi all,
Sounds like this one is in the bag, if the only argument is "insufficient demand". Once this one goes through there will probably be more and there is tons of room for everyone, you've only got to look at the number of bookies in the UK, they all do very nicely. I've even seen 3 bookies in the same group of shops (only about 20 shops in all) and they was all packed on a saturday, the demand is there. I say good luck to them and I hope they get the go ahead.

Tony:)

yeah the only problem is from the 3 major casinos companies in the UK that really dont want someone to beat them at their own game. its is rather convenient for me as i live only 10 miles & work about 15 minutes away from DTD :D

Insufficient demand? Kiss my ass! We got all kinds of crappy old clothes stores that are open around here, and trust me, they don't have an abundance of deman either. Who the hell are they to stop an entrepreneur from opening their own business. If DTD gets shut down because of that, that's even more ****ed up than the US's stance on online poker.
