We are pleased to announce that DragTheBar will be creating video excerpts exclusively for Cardschat members. Various coaches from DTB will create the videos and will participate in the discussions about the concepts discussed in the videos here at Cardschat.

We will have coaches for various game types - cash games, tournaments, sng's etc participating.

1. The first video has been created by Hunter Bick who is one of the co-founders of DTB. He is a significant winner at mid-stakes heads up and 6-max NLHE.

You can view the video and join in the discussion here:

BeachJustice on Overbet Bluffs

2. The second video was created by Paul Hoppe aka GiantBuddha. He is a limit coach at DTB and even if you don't play limit you will learn something from this video.

GiantBuddah's Hand of the Day

3. The 3rd video was created by Greg (zerosum79). He is a sng coach at DTB and this video is part 1 of his ABC's of Sit in Goes series.

Zerosum79's ABC's of SNG's Part 1

4. The 4th video was created by Jeremy Menard (Chipsteela/EndlessJ). He is an MTT coach at DTB and this set of videos is part 1 of his Sunday Million series.

I will update in this thread each time a new video thread is created. (We are not sure what the frequency will be - but it will be an on-going thing.)

DragTheBar offers a free seven day trial when you register. I have been a member there for a few months now and have found some great videos.

Fantastic news. Am I to presume that this might have something to do with having Dusty Schmidt as a member since he is an instructor over there?

Indirectly maybe. Dusty and I talked about doing something but not anything specific. Then Phil and I had some discussions and this was the end result. We talked about videos for Cardschat and this is the idea Phil had that we thought might be good.

Nice job to whoever organised this, I assume it was you Daks, but is it possible to lock this thread so that when new vids are available the wont be buried amongst all other posts ITT.

Locking the thread doesn't make much sense. When new videos are added I will post the link here as a bump and to the OP.

Just seen this. This is a great idea that will help both of the sites. Hunter has some really cool vids on DTB (already checked out the 7 day free trial) and it's nice to see him posting on here as well as Dusty. Can't wait for more from the rest of the coaches.

Hey guys. I'll be happy to answer any questions about the hand or concepts discussed in the video. Yes, it's an LHE hand, but I do some detailed combo analysis which you can apply to your NL game just as easily.

This may not be the best thread to post in, but just a quick question.

In the near future im looking to really get stuck in and learn LHE, I believe if you have a strong LHE game, you can just about play any form of poker. I also believe that it would help to build up my post flop skills. (I'm mostly a SNG player, limited cash experience)

Where is the best place to get started? Books? Drag the bar? playing low limit LHE? What would you recommend a novice LHE player to start out doing?

I'm sure Paul will give much better advice, but fwiw, I just spent some time studying the game. I wouldn't recommend just jumping on to the tables - coming from NLHE, I really didn't grasp how the better odds to draw/bluff/bluff catch would impact hand ranges, it was a major shock to me to see what hands are being played pf and what hands are calling down (bottom pair, A hi, etc. - has a huge impact on how you think about value betting :) ).

It was also a change for me to understand MP and CO ranges (6max) need to be a bit tighter than in NLHE, and toning down some of my implied odds hands from NLHE on the btn. As an example, in 6max I usually open any pp in any position - in LHE, I open fold 22-66 in all positions, unless the blinds are super tight and I'm btn.

That stuff isn't fun to figure out at the table, I'd definitely go the vids or books route. And I did benefit alot from Paul and DTB, and from DC where I'm also a member.

I know exactly what you mean, i play the 8 game rotation on stars, for fun mostly, i really enjoy the differant styles of poker, Im able to hold my own in most games, but LHE i just cannot get a grip of, i find myself in weird and wonderful spots, where i have absolutely no idea what to do. I might give the DTB route a try. Any books you can recommend?

Yeah, I'm playing mixed games as well, that was the initial motivation to study LHE. I'm hoping to make mixed games a primary game for myself fwiw - since all the players have strengths and weaknesses, finding players who are weak in the games I'm stronger in should be profitable, as long as I improve in the games I'm weak in lol :) .

The consensus I've seen in all forums is Grudzien's book Winning Tough Holdem Games - haven't read it myself though, so can't comment. Paul has mentioned that he's writing a book on LHE - can't wait to see it.

P.S. Shameless CC plug :) - If you haven't read FP's strat posts, these are excellent as well: https://www.cardschat.com/blog/04/30/best-poker-strategy-blog-posts/ They're mostly LHE, which isn't obvious since he's currently playing NLHE.
