I was at the final table at Full Tilt. Only 3 hands played no one out. A short stack goes all in for 10k I reraise 3times that to isolate the all in and i have pocket 9's. This absolute donkey pushes all in. Now im wondering wtf you see an all in and a reraise and you do that last to act. After some thought i call which is 28k more and all my chips. The all in has A,Q off and the donk to my utter suprise shows 10, 9 off suit. Before i continue let me first say "WHY" YOU see an all in and a reraise and you feel you should be involved with 10, 9 off so retarded. Needless to say as you can expect the ten hits the turn, Q hits the river oh my god. Now i can careless about the queen hitting because i am basically doubling up through the idiot. Why in the world does the unneccessary happen for the undeserving fools out there? I know for a fact that the play was utter retardation, the guy was last to act and felt it neccessary to risk more than half his stack on ten high!! So he has one over and a dead card and the garbage fulltilt site bails out the ridiculous. This is outrageous, i hate the constant bull shits uncalled for and retarded.

SIGH......

WHY WOULDN'T YOU WANT THAT CALL????
(sorry for yelling)

but....you're only mad cuz you lost, obv, but you will kill 10 9 while holding 99 a lot. So don't be stuck on this happening one time and OMG THEY ARE DONKS BLA BLA BLA, good poker players realize the did the best thing and got in ahead, they also realize luck is still a factor.

If the bad players didn't get lucky at least once in a while, they wouldn't keep playing - and it would be a lot harder for the good players to make any money. It mainly seems that they get lucky a lot because, psychologically, those are the things you remember - you probably don't remember the last time you put a bad beat on someone, no matter how recent it was. I'm not saying the sting of taking a bad beat ever goes away completely - it doesn't - but you just have to remember that making the correct decision will usually pay off. If you want to celebrate the high points of poker, you have to be willing to tolerate the low points.

Hmmm...I think you're letting the suckout cloud your vision of a chance to learn something here.....

Let's switch positions with the big stack for a moment... you look down and see 10,9 os... a guy in EP w/short stack of 10K goes goes all... the final table just started so 1/2 the players have NO READS on you and you most likely have no reads on 1/2 the others.

You think for a moment and decide the Short Stack has big ace and is either hoping for a steal of the blinds or for it to hold up and at least double up.
At this point you haven't decided what exactly you are going to do...

Folds around to a guy in mid position... he's got the short stack out stacked 6:1... he hesitates and raises to 30K... leaving a mere 28K behind... one by one the rest fold around to you... hmmm do I fould this junk? Maybe the mid will take out the short... or maybe the short will weaken the mid...hmmmm....wait a minute... the worst possible case is I'm in a three way and one is already all in....and the most he can bet is 28K into a pot of 70K...so if I hit the flop...maybe I should flat calll...but any overs on the flop and I have to throw this in to that 28K bet.... but wait a second...the mid stack's weak PF bet is screaming I have 'ok' cards, but not good enough that I shoved with em...so let's assume he has mid to low pockets...or possibly Ace big... what if I represent BIG pockets? IF he folds then what? I win the side pot of 20K and most likely lose 10K to the short stack... but what else happens here?... since the short stack is all-in, EVERYONE will see me "bluff" with 910 os and/or think I'm LAG... my PF raises with good cards are going to draw a lot of action from here on out!
If I shove, and he calls... I most likely have two overs or HE slow played a monster and I'm in deep!

Let's make a play...ALLIN!

That's a great analysis Poker Pete. It could very well happen and you gotta remember that at the final table you've got to be the aggressor. The most aggressive player usually wins the whole thing. Next time the "donk" makes a big bet and he/she has a monster they will get called.

Another point about why donks never lose is that there are so many of them that it just seems like they win a lot. If there were no donks around to take advantage then the game wouldn't be so profitable.

There are many reasons why people call and many reasons why they are even in the hand.

Not everybody plays premium cards all the time, aggression comes into the game as well, maybe they thought you were trying it on.

Many many layers are at work in poker and then multiply this for each hand.

And then through in the luck factor and your in the world of poker :)

Personally I don't like the 30K bet with a 58K stack with a big stack behind me yet to act... not sure if I want to "donk out 8th" here with pocket nines, but I'm not sure how many callers behind me I can push out on the flop with a bet of 28K into a pot of 70K+30K for each additional caller over 1... plus it BEGS for a steal attempt

You have pocket 9's

Not sure I would have made that move.

Pushing with 9's is one thing.

Calling an All In is another.

well, you WANTED him to call, you had him destroyed. You just lost. Happens all the time to me, and I get the same way, thinking why did he have to go all in... but in reality you WANTED that call. just not your luck.

Yep...if people in freerolls had that much thought. More likely scenarios:

#1) Oooohhhh 10-9 os, I was born on 10/9...ALL IN!

#2) Oooohhhh I's gotz two cardz...ALL IN!

#3) Where'd that fold button go? Oh well, I guess I HAVE to go ALL IN!

;)

Lets just remember one thing...

We are playing poker a from of gambling. GAMBLING to stake or risk money, or anything of value, on the outcome of something involving chance: to gamble on a flip of the cards. If I remember correctly only one hand can take the risk out of betting thats a Royal Flush. This hand cant be beat. So inless you have a royal flush you dont have the best hand your still gambling. This may not make since but it is a fact. I understand the fustration that comes with being sucked out or crawfished on the river it happens on TV all the time so if it happens on TV it has to be true. My attemt to be funny here is very week just like most hole cards in poker. So take away from this the fact that your hands now matter how strong a start they have they can be taken down by weaker hands or stronger ones... Its gambling... So dont get hung up on one hand cause it was never a sure thing.

LOL

Well welcome to the Nice world of poker. LOL...
It happens all the time and if you play online its gotta
happen more often than that. ive always found that playing
online and these shortstacks dont play a hand till its their sb or bb
and get forced to move allin and the poker sites always lets them
have it. ive seen were 2 or 3 callers called down a guy that was just
sitting out and come down to him before he got blinded out and won the
hand. thats poker i guess
goodluck though man

What buy in amount do you have to play in that the percentage of donks really decreases?
Just curious

online poker sites use programs that are randomized every hand every card, not like your card games that are played in a real environment. so donks have better odds in the virtual poker site then in a real world.

I agree withthe logic of PokerPete, if Mardunk really wanted to isolate, he's going all-in right away especially if he's going to call any re-raise. Not sure I would have raised to isolate or to have pushed all-in with the 10 9, but that's why we play the game and love to hate it.

You would have wanted that call in the first place. Sure there are a lot of times, especially with online poker that a bs hand wins, but the mathematically best hand doesn't always win. You just have to be pissed off for a while.

The real problem with having someone like that call a big all-in is if you have a middle pair or AQ or AJ, if you're in against two people with all the chips on the line, you have to figure at least one has a good enough hand to have you dominated, while if it's just one person you're against, you feel a lot more comfortable making the call...I've lost many a big hands this way
