I am playing on $50+ sng I was concerned about the number of regulars at these levels. I have noticed that most of the best players have a ROI of 5-7%.
I feel that table selection becomes essential and I ve been thinking that if one enters a table with 5-6 regulars automatically has a -ROI even if his a + player due to the rake.
How many sharks are enough before the rake makes all lose money?

Well it's difficult to play against a lot of good reg's and beat the rake in some sng's if that's what you mean, certainly the higher up the stakes you go. You really need to be very good at the game and table selecting so you not up against regs. Shouldn't be a problem up to $30 or so tbh.

More regs is definitely going to lower your ROI. It's also going to increase variance, because they have a better understanding of correct play. But I'd say making or losing money has much more to do with your ability compared to the opposition rather than the rake being paid.

5-7 % ROI is extremely high for good winning players. I doubt if that is a really big sample. If you have a ROI of 2% consider yourself as a pretty good winning player!

Rake reduces your win rate, so a break even player wuold lose money with a rake but a winner would just win a little less. Most regs are only playnig their B or C game because they sit on 20 tables and try to rakeback their way to riches. (sorry if I make somone mad) Just exploit their tight play and get out of the way when they get aggresive). That said, I would rather play the worst players than the winning players.
