It makes sense. Poker is a game you need to keep focused for hours. Not to say a person who is obese couldn't stay focused in tournaments and win. Many are good. Greg Raymor comes to mind. He won 2004 wsop main event and went deep the following year.
Then you look at Daniel Negraneau. He eats healthy. Keeps fit and that keeps his mind sharp.

I don't think shape is nesseccery to succeed. Expecially with online game. I can imagine some big fat guy drinking cocacola and eating chips, and playing high stakes poker :) Greg Raymore, Tony G, Chan and million others i guess.

Maybe you will have less pain on your backbone and spine while playing hours of poker,, but i don't think that this will cause better poker for long period.. and fat guys will went deep..

Listen, i go to the gym 4 times a week for 2 hours (+1 commuting back and forth), it definitely helps, you get more disciplined and focus, you understand the value of hard work a lot more, for me personally it also help reduce stress, i feel great when i work out.

It's more about mental health, If you're fit you're probably living a healthy lifestyle and that can only be good for the mind. Living a sedentary life is bad for your body and your head, so It can definitely affect your poker grind.

It is true for most of the people. From my experience, I can say that aerobic trainings (jogging, football, cycling) help alot for feeling fresh and staying focused.

The body needs exercise, when we play poker we keep sitting for a long time and it is possible that it can affect the health. It's not that you should be in shape to be a good poker player. But successful players are taking their health and fitness seriously

"Mens sana in corpore sano" usually translated as "a healthy mind in a healthy body"

I drink and smoke and I'm a terrible pokerplayer, so it might be true

I am mostly just moving my mouse and clicking its buttons while playing poker, so I do not feel that it is really necessary.

I think being physically fit definitely has a positive impact on your mental state of mind - and poker is a very mental game so it has to help.

I think fitness is key to a sharp mind and therefore it is key to making good decisions and critical thinking. When fit your body literally does less work to deliver the same amount of oxygen and nutrients throughout your body... including your brain.

body training and exercise can have a very positive effect on your health and the brain so i guess any kind of training would help.
it would definitely be better than not doing it at all and i'm not talking only about the brain.

first of all it concerns people who quickly get tired, and fatigue leads to a loss of concentration, so yes, for a good and stable poker game, you just need to maintain your physical form !!!

Most likely the truth, than a myth. Fatigue is not a trained body and physically weakened can not help but affect the game. Accordingly, fitness before the game gives a not noticeable, but advantage. The ability to physically transfer long sessions of players to tournaments without losses on the quality of the game - this is one of the components of this very game!

Not compulsory

I believe that focus depends on each person's mindset the moment it enters a game. Training and dedication while practicing poker to achieve a certain level, will define your resistance and skills on the tables. exercising is part of a healthy lifestyle for about everything you do in life. I would not put is as special rule for poker playing

I think cigarettes, cocaine, hamburgers and Coca Cola help more with your table stamina than fitness.

Sport has a very healthy effect on the person's well-being, if you have excellent health, you will be able to play for a long time at a high level, without feeling uncomfortable ... Personally, I have this before entering the hall (in my mind there is a cycle, very a big stream of thoughts that is hard to stop ...), after the hall, everything happens with accuracy, but vice versa ... you feel relaxed (maybe easy fatigue), but the key word here is "Relaxation" - it's very important, it helps relax the whole body, and then perfectly restored go, which will greatly affect your game :) Conclusion: Sports really really helps me a lot (a poker player)
