Or is it just not possible to make money without pokerstars. I seen 1 or 2 posters mention they still play for a living online from the usa. Is there even enough volume to do it on the usa sites for rakeback? I know on pokerstars many play a ton and do good and earn a lot from rb. I know many of the 100 and 200NL grinders count on rakeback but 400NL and up players dont really care about it that much right?

I know merge/lock still has volume for games and some 2/4NL but is it way too hard without having access to stars? There was some posters here who mention they still play for a living on merge/lock and plays 2/4.

I know you can play higher stakes on bovada but problem is its anonymous so i'm pretty sure tons of ppl won't want to play on that.

I actually don't know many that it is their sole income. Some do it as a hobby and earn spending money but from what I have seen it is tough to do simply because the player pool is so much smaller on US-facing sites that the usual players you find are grinders that are competent players and it is hard to make a living off of them.

I know dozens of guys doing so. Quite a few broke 100k last fiscal year after Black Friday and are on the pace for a repeat. Requires multi-siting, fine-tuning your systems, and spreading some money around but it is entirely possible. I've been multi-siting for 9 of the last 10 years now and I play all the US networks and most of the Euro ones, eschewing Stars b/c I've never liked it.

So yes :)

I stopped a couple of years ago and went back to work. Just started playing a bit again to entertain myself.

Yes you can, I feel like the U.S. poker players pools are growing, I've seen many big money guaranteed promotions amongst Bovada, Lock and Carbon..

It was said that you need big sites to get big games. In 2006, you had party poker, Pokerstars, Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker with giant games every day. You look at the sites available to US players now and there are some big games but nothing like before.

Back in the day, they had tournaments of pretty big size and value all of the time.. which is what made them such good sites.. Its almost got me wanting to move out of the country just for the ease of their systems.. But I guess the good old days are gone.

Yes unfortunately. It was a great run but sadly our government has better ideas on how we should spend our time and money.

It seems like traffic on Bovada has picked up. I think there are quite a few USA players grinding some good money on there. Hard to tell with no screen names.

Noticed the same. I started back playing there about a week ago. DO NOT like the no screen names though.
