Does anyone know what is going to happen to the accounts of online poker players?

I have a friend who took momey off pokerstars and cashed a check a day or two before the whole thing went down (black Friday). The check bounced and he now has to treturn $2,500 to the bank. Will he ever see his money?

be more specific:

-where is friend from?
-where is friend's account registered (e.g. he might be living in UK but have a US account)?
-what other deposit methods has he tried?

if he's from the US, there's some uncertainty about checks clearing, etc., but a site like stars isn't going to just have people's money disappearing. it might take a while, but the money is still his, so he'll probably get it, perhaps soon, perhaps not-so-soon.

if he's from the US and is staying in the US, he might not be able to play on PS anymore, though.

He is from New Hampshire. He got the check and cashed it a day or two before black friday so it obviously never cleared, and now Citizens Bank is charging his checking account for the bounced check and he has to return the money.

don't have too much experience with this, did the money appear in his stars account after the check bounced?

he should definitely e-mail stars support and ask, but it might be a bit of time before they respond.

did your friend (it's gonna be funny when we find out that you're the friend, but i'll play along) withdraw money from citizens bank somehow and his account there is now negative? if that's the case, i imagine he's going to need to pay citizens bank whatever amount in the red he is (so if he had $2500 there, withdrew all of it, then the check didn't clear and he now has -$2500, he'll probably need to pay this back and whatever overdraft charges citizens bank charges).

i don't think he'll be able to get away from not having to pay citizens bank what he owes, in any case.

e-mail stars support, i'm not completely sure how this works, maybe someone else can chime in

It obviously bounced because it didn't have time to clear. It takes usually 3-5 days for a cheque to clear, so 2 days before it would still of been processing and by the Friday came, all of pokerstars U.S cashing/withdrawing/depositing etc all had been frozen by the government so it's not a surprise.

He will get the money in good time, just tell him to be patient till it's all done with.
