I dint think it would help with online poker. I might feel better I guess .
If it makes you feel better it helps. I don't always have them on because sometimes I play with people I know well and the game is socially active. If I am grinding in an MTT then I wear them and have music on and it's like puting on blinders in a horse race. You see people with hoods on and I totally get it. It's not about hiding your eyes or your face so people can't see you it's about you not seeing hearing or allowing them to influence your game in anyway. It's why we play online.Hello,
How many of you wear sunglasses during play? If so do you think it helps.
Yes I wear sunglasses. I do think it helps. It you stare at a person long enough they don't act natural. If you stare at a person with sunglasses they will act natural, because they don't know/think UR looking at them.Hello,

You made a lot of valid points. I remember play 7-card stud and I had wired jacks and when an opponent got my jack I stared at it for a while & another opponent noticed it. He asked me if he guessed my down cards if I would tell him so he said pocket jacks and I was astonished. He told me I was staring at that jack when it went to my opponent. Sunglasses would've definitely prevented me from projecting that tell.I used to wear them when I first played, and when I played the WSOP M.E this summer I wore them for day 1.
My thoughts are:
Wearing them makes you feel "safer"? I guess in a way. Its fun to be able to stare at people without them knowing you're looking.
You can do whatever you want with your eyes while the cards are out and they don't see what the heck you are looking at.
What I don't like is how its just darker in general, and may put more stress on my eyes starring. Also sometimes you get the wrong rep for wearing them (i.e. they may think you are SUPER tight and never pay you off, or think you are a fish and constantly come at you)
What I enjoy about not wearing them is its more intimidating and direct looking at someone. Especially when you have a shaved head like me
I remember Daniel Negreanu once said he would like it at final tables if you couldn't wear sunglasses, although he said he knows that would NEVER be a rule. He thinks it is NOT a welcoming site & is quite intimidating to the casual player to see someone not talking & with sunglasses on.I've never played live poker, but it feels weird watching tournaments on TV,internet where many people wear sunglasses at one table.Just imagine if a poker tournament looked like this:
