Just a thought,

I know poker for alot of serious players is an image thing and at times egotistic regarding making the wrong plays losing money, no one wants to be the donk or be the player who gets ridiculed for calling a horrific hand and playing the hand in a donkish way , Also most players think they are good players
some of us cant or dont want to believe it (that were not as good as want to believe) or We will be missled into false sense of ability = like
'I made a really bad play but I know I shouldn't of done it' there for its ok,
this in my oppinion is slightly dilusional and by knowing poker inside out is in some cases not good enough to be a great player.
you have to be able to think under pressure and control your emotions and aswell as being fluent with your creativity and reactions, alot of us all have these traits and that why we believe we are great...
but the bottom line is being able to do this day in day out is the only way you will ever be able to make a luxury life from poker,

and oh yeah,
basically what I was saying . lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if their are alot of players who dont want to admit that they go broke, and could be spending excessive amounts,
or basically stuck in a ruck majority of the time ,

for me my ultimate goal was to get rich you soon learn even being good is sometimes not enough, without the whole package including home life, routine situation - etc

noone is perfect, everyone makes mistakes from time to time and I myself included have made horrible moves that have turned out to win massive pots, and been an akward situation with table image and all,but I just push through it.
We all make mistakes and have bad days.
We continue to play.

Oh yea - there are loads of poker players - good and bad - who don't want to admit they are losing.

no one wants to admit their loses, especially the pros there are several times I have personally made some dumb plays and donked and fished and won, but everyone does. you cant play perfect everytime and you cant win everytime. I just try to do as best as I can and try to learn something new everytime im at the felt.

The key is to review and learn from your donk plays. It helps to keep a notebook so you can have a time record of your play.

It's human nature, people will rarely/never admit they are losing money playing the game. ;)

some loses hurt more then others, but you have to keep learning and not make the same ones again.
i admit to sometimes not telling the whole truth when asked about my loses

Yep I lost quite a few times, first step for me was admitting I have problems and made mistakes, learnt from them and ask for help.

Like the poker joke goes:

Player A: "I won $500 last night"
Player B: "Yeah, but how much did you lose?"

Poker players tend to have very selective memories. Generally the worse a player is, the worse their memory of their actual results is.

Anyone who is making a serious effort to play and become a good player absolutely must keep good records of all their wins and losses. Knowing which games/limits you can beat and which you can't is integral.

I would say.... 50-60+ % of players that are losing in the long run probably don't admit it.

I see so many regulars at casinos and in clubs locally that rarely ever go home winners, yet they talk about how well off they are and play great.

When I play now I realize if I make mistakes and I get mad at myself for doing so, but its all part of the learning process.

I lost much. and in principle I recognize it. but I play not for the sake of benefit - to be pleasant to me process of game and receiving a certain portion of adrenaline. and who doesn't want to recognize defeat it to me already big problem seems. it is necessary always to be able to lose adequately.

I think there are plenty who are unwilling to state their losses. To some extent, I can appreciate this in that how much a person has lost is basically no one's business but their own. What I don't get is taking a big step beyond that by lying about being a smaller loser, breakeven or even a winner. And even worse, I suspect some lie to themselves about this too.

Poker is a funny game. Its the type of game that brings the players' personal traits to the forefront and in fact, becomes apart of their style.

So losing has a lot more to do with just playing the cards wrong, it also has to do with how their personal traits interact with the game. Some cant admit they cant figure out how to win, when others seem to find it an easy thing to do.

I believe that when a player cannot admit they are a losing player they are in some sort of delusional state. By that I mean they do not want to admit that they are not 'good' per say or fail to realize that there are areas of their game (or their game in whole) that need(s) major improvement.

As for myself I am a losing player, I have never played to make vast amounts of money or play for a living. I have played online since 2005 and during that time I was the type of person to deposit and play the Sunday Million a few Sundays a year, or deposit a large amount of money and blow through games that ate up 20% of my BR each. I have always played just for the enjoyment of playing without ever focusing on improving my game.
To protect against the question which I know will come to mind: "How could you play for so long, so many games and never improve?"- I never practiced BRM, I would always deposit and play it out, deposit and play it out, always playing games way outside of my bankroll and stepping up against players much better than myself. It's hard to improve on my game when I'm not giving myself much of a chance to do so.

Recently I decided to chalk-up my losses, stop the large tournament/high risk play and start to focus on improving my game. That's the reason I came to this forum- to look for some direction, support, education and advice and this is just going to be the start of my revamp.

I don't mean to turn your thread into a 'look at me', my point is that if those players that can't admit that they're losing players took a step back and admitted it to themselves than they too would possibly reach out and start to improve their games.

The graph I am working to turn around:

if you cant be honest with yourself about your play then its really hard if not impossible to improve.. its embarrassing and hurts your ego to admit that you made bad plays or maybe just arent as good as you thought you were.. but realizing that and being completely honest about losses and why they happened is the best thing you can do for your game.. i think this is a HUGE flaw in a lot of peoples game.. everyone wants to think theyre the best

Yes , there are lotts who never ever admit they r loosing on poker . It is very important to accept the losses and Analyse why i am down . talk to good poker Players and learn how to come back from bad run or bad mistakes. win or loss is a part of the game . we should learn from both .

Personally it doesn't bother me so much. It made me see I am not as good as I thought I was. I am down like 30 buy ins due to bad 6 max play. I know if I ever play that format to be a lot more careful and I can now understand some of my leaks and (maybe) fix them. That is I ever stop being stubborn.

Don't be ashamed. Learn from them. You will never stop making decisions that are not correct AFTER the fact.

Its like the slot machine says you won 200 coins. No I lost 300 because I played 500 coins
