re: Poker & Do you think legalized online poker would help or hurt live poker rooms?
Obviously there would be some an afffect to some degree but overall, people like live tournaments and cash games much more for several reasons. I myself like live because of the simple fact that you can read your oponent. You can only speculate online with timing and what not when he/she could just be texting on their phone or whatever. In live games you can see their charater in fine detail especially after hours of play.
Now online poker tournaments hold high volumes of players and you can play multiple tables at one time which is great. You certainly cannot do that live at a casino which gives the online industry an edge. In addition to haing many tables running at once, you also have the luxuary of simply playing where ever you want. And with the mobile apps, thats certainly making it much easier.
I have heard that casinos want to join the online community as well. I know that Atlantic City Resorts is certainly looking into partnering with PokerStars
and it's actually in the workings.
So if the casinos are able to get into the action then I don't see much of a change. There are still a lot of people who love the live action for the benefits of seeing their oponents and dealers. Time will tell though. I hope they leagalize it.
