After his amazing run last year, and with him saying that he's playing the best poker of his life lately, do you think he'll ever win the Main Event?

I do. I'm not sure when, but I do really believe that before his time is done that he will win the Main Event. I think he's more likely to do it than Phil Ivey.

So, what do you guys think?

Everything is possible. Ivey, too, can win. They are both great players

Absolutely they are both among the best of all time. I just think Daniel is more likely to actually win the Main Event than Ivey is. Not taking anything away from Ivey, just how I feel.

The fields are too big. Too many fulltime pros. These guys are celebrities now and do not rely on playing for a living. They do not have an edge anymore and the game has passed them by.

You think the game has passed Daniel Negreanu by and he doesn't have an edge?

Dwan is a great cash player but don't think he has the patience or discipline to win main event

Although I think he's favored to go far, the amount of players and variance just muddles their skill for one event. So I think it's very unlikely he'll win, even though I'd like to think he's probably one of the top favorite picks.

I think he won't win, because he's too much playing to the camera and to the audience, and it's a distraction from the main game

dan is such a freat player but the odds of winning are so rare and even if you can make all the right mves in all the right spots its still terribly hard to get that bracelet

Picking any single player, no matter how good, versus the field is not a good wager.

Fair enough.

The fields are too big. Too many fulltime pros. These guys are celebrities now and do not rely on playing for a living. They do not have an edge anymore and the game has passed them by.

Agree with the quote under this.

You think the game has passed Daniel Negreanu by and he doesn't have an edge?

Dwan is a great cash player but don't think he has the patience or discipline to win main event

Main event? I don't know if he'll even ever win any bracelet. He's too busy playing nose bleeds.

I don't see why not... Daniel is a great poker player and tournament is his forte.

My thoughts, too.

Although I think he's favored to go far, the amount of players and variance just muddles their skill for one event. So I think it's very unlikely he'll win, even though I'd like to think he's probably one of the top favorite picks.

Again. fair enough.

I think he won't win, because he's too much playing to the camera and to the audience, and it's a distraction from the main game

I don't think that distracts him at all. I think that actually helps him. He feeds off of it.

Picking any single player, no matter how good, versus the field is not a good wager.

This is also a fair statement.

This is true. But I think if anyone can, it's him. He's already finished 11th, twice. Which in itself is pretty impressive.

with such big fields it is unlikely - luck over several days can play an important part - skill overcomes luck eventually but in a field of the size WSOP attracts it is hard to see it paying off against the semi- skilled, let alone the number of players now performing at this top level.

He should be able to win one of the WSOP events in my lifetime, probably not THE WSOP Main Event.

Considering the field is so big... Doubtful. But who knows. I think the field size within 10 years will be smaller than the past few years. Either way it will still be very hard.

Daniel is great player, but the contract with poker stars probably brought him a more money than cash prizes WSOP. In my opinion :listen:
