I was thinking today, when was the first time I played Texas Hold'em ? It took me a little
while. Because it was almost twenty years ago. Hard to believe how time flies.
Anyway, it came me . It was 1999 my family had just moved to the Las Vegas area.
I was there visiting and thought I'd try my luck at some seven card stud. So, I wandered into
a poker room at one of the station casino's for the first time. I asked the woman at the desk
if their were any seven stud games open, she replied no But we have seat for Texas Hold'em What's that? She said, do you know how play poker? yes.... She explained the game in thirty seconds and that was it . True Story. I was hooked!;)

My oldest son got into the TV coverage boom. Few of us would play at the table. From there, went on-line to poker stars and Full Tilt.

First intro for me was the year 2003 I think when Moneymaker won the wsop main event. Been hooked since. I played at Full Tilt soon after, play money for 2 months before I put cash in and tried real money games.

The first time I played was with 3 of my cousins in the livingroom at my grandmother's house. It was in the evening on Easter so we all were at various stages of sugar binges with a lot of small candies like jelly beans left. An older cousin showed us how to play and we used candy as money.

First time playing Texas Hold'em would have been when I was maybe 14. Being born in the mid 90s made finding a game in the technological age among my peers was and still is difficult...

Five card draw on the other hand... Learned to play that as a fan of the poker in Only Fools and Horses when i was maybe 8... My father bought me a small hold'em set with a deck of cards, cheap chips and a dealer button, hand having taught a load of the other lads a (flawed but fun) version of 5 card, maybe 5 or 6 of us played almost every day between the age of 9 and 11. Then I got my chips confiscated when a religious friends parents complained.

Hey ho.

The first time that I played online poker was when I was in middle school at a friend's house. The game was for 5 dollars and at the time I wasn't too interested honestly. It wasn't until I was in college that I began to take poker more seriously.

I had played various forms of poker in university back in the early 70s....it was more fun than going to class, but Texas Holdem did not exist at the time. My first time playing for money live at a casino was about 11 years ago. I chose a single table tournament instead of a cash game because the buy-in was fixed, which limited my loss potential. I was nervous, even though I was in my 50s because I did not want to tell my wife and son that I was the first player out. I played very tight, was in last place when 2 players went out on the same hand. Next hand I got pocket 7s. I swallowed hard and pushed all-in. There were 2 takers with Ace and face...my 7s held up and I went from last to 2nd place. I ended up winning that mini tournament, which amazed me for my first time playing at a casino...that was also the LAST time I won !

I can't remember the first time for Texas hold'em, I just know it was at Foxwoods. However I do remember the first time I played Omaha 8 or better down there. It cost me about $200 to figure it out but when I got back home I told the guys at our regular game "Have I got a game for you guys!" It was my bread and butter for years.

Exactly how my brother and I started playing. After watching a few tourneys we couldn't wait to play.
We played all kinds of games growing up cards as well as board games. Natural progression to play online when given the chance. I don't live anywhere near a casino and to just show up without ever have played the game didn't sound like a great idea. lol

I played a cash game when I was 15 in 2003 with friends, during the Moneymaker boom. Looking back on it, no one really had any idea what they were doing. I got really unlucky and lost $28. That made me want to learn the game, and get good at it. Still enjoy playing the game for fun today!
