I would like to go pro one day but since I don't have the br as of right now I still play as much as I can and take any stakes serious to build up a healthy br.

I think for me , poker is a lifestyle ! I believe that much of what is learned in poker, has to do with moments of our lives ... I know it, I like to think so, then I see him more a profession or hobby .. that's how I face the poker ^^

I love to play some main events and meet professional players and hopefully become semi-pro by then, right now I have 6 months experience and my biggest achievements include winning 200$ ticket for 150k (not yet used) mtt. the problem only is the distortions I have which makes my game worse.

I strictly play as a hobby even though I do play a lot. I still play to win and profit but playing poker professionally or even semi-professionally is very stressful with all the variance that is involved with poker. There can be times where your not doing anything wrong but your still losing due to getting unlucky.

Just wondering what the split ratio is on players here,
like are most on some kind of want to be a pro pursuit and investing hours and hours trying to get their.

Or is poker for you, purely a hobbie and something you have a love and passion for?

What is the difference really? I think every poker player wants to be a pro and make enough money to support themselves. Does poker become hobby just because your a losing player? I Believe if you spend most of your time playing poker and you play more then you work. You can consider yourself a pro.

You can consider yourself a pro when you solely rely on poker as your source of income. When you view poker as being work and not entertainment than you can also consider yourself a pro.

I play poker as a hobby. I'm studying at university and rest times I get to play some table cash or any tournament . It's something that I really like poker. But I see myself not being professional or living it

Choice!

Your job or poker? You love them both..sometimes I wanna quit my job to concentrate and grind in poker. But its hard to make a better decision.

For me, it's wasn't a difficult choice.
I quit my job to take care of my girlfriend.
She was hitted by a Cardio Vascular Accident and she cannot be alone at home.
For me, it's was clear that's better to take care of her instead of pay someone else.

So, I play online poker as a hobby and like a job, but I'm not win big cash for now, but I don't give up.

My girlfriend too don't give up, and I'm very proud of her...

I don't really have a chose. I can't work and will go to a hearing on my SSI in Dec. But I still don't play poker for a living. I really don't want to get back into playing 12 hours a day and sleep the other 12. But I do play and let my BR's grow, and when I get back my ID I will be able to withdraw some money as I need it.

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend and I have to say I admire you for taking care of her.
You are a good man and good things will come to you and your girlfriend.
All the best to you for a speedy recovery.

Poker is like acting. It is probably not a good idea to quit your job in pursuit of a dream where very few people are successful but to each their own.

Hi Mary. I would love to say Poker, but like some on here I don't have a job, so no choice. I have a "leg" problem, making it difficult for me to get around and oter associated problems.............anyway enough of that misery.

I have told my missus that I will "have the money oneday" to be able to pay in the big "live" tourneys and she will enjoy the trips/ (holidays for her and her sister I guess). For now though I continue to read, listen and (hopefully) learn from all the members on here and that will make my dream come true. So when fubar says "it is like pursuing your dream" he is dead right. gl in whatever you do and stay on here ~ not a better place to learn the game.....:D:D:D

I love poker, somehwhat dislike my curent job most the time however I'd need to step it up quite a few levels from where I play right now online to ever think about leaving my job to grind poker............. as much as I'd like to, my job does pay well so I doubt I consider the move anytime before I retire from my job lol ..... besides I probably play more hours of poker already on a weekly basis than i work so its like i do them both full time

Play poker with real money, i think about 1 year ago. I never had many gains, but i've gained some experience. I would like to one day compete in major poker tournaments ,but until the day.. is just a hobbie :p

Playing for fun when I can, hoping someday to win enough to make a withdrawal. Don't believe I have the patience for putting in the time required to ever do it for more than fun.
