well some of us are professional poker players who make living out of poker and poker is our daily job. I myself almost introduce myself as a poker player however in some places they don't like that. they look like me as a gambler and they consider gamble taboo.
what about you guys, do you introduce yourself as a poker player? how do you introduce yourself to new people who ask what is your job and what is your occupation currently?

i play poker nobody knows, but my best friend knows.

Poker is just a hobby for me.

I always tell people the truth, I have nothing to be ashamed of or hide. I do not make money playing poker, at least not yet, but I tell my acquaintances, colleagues, or relatives that poker is my hobby.

I introduce myself as a poker player, because if you introduce yourself as a player, many people associate it with a casino, and this is not true.
Poker and casino are different things, you have to think in poker.

I do not tell everybody that i play poker but i also do not hide it (sometimes i wear tshirts related to poker) and if anybody asks me about poker i am always happy to discuss it.

My job, and my interests are my private business. If someone asks where I work, I answer that I work at home on the computer, without detailing. But of course my relatives, friends, and good acquaintances know what my profession is and what my hobby is.

Yeah, since playing poker is not my full time job, then i don't introduce myself as a poker player. If someone asks about my hobbies etc, i tell them that i really love poker. Someday hopefully i'll be professional poker player.

No definitely not, just like it would be weird to introduce yourself as a professional football or any sport player IRL, would just seem awkward

You can tell people that you are in risk management.
Or maybe tell them that you’re an investment advisor.
Better yet tell them that you sell life insurance, they will surely change the subject.

Normally they do not see it well, as they say they associate it with a casino, with vice, with something that has no difficulty and with a bad reputation for stereotypes from before, perhaps, from movies, etc. I do introduce myself as a poker player and to the people I am interested in knowing more I tell them how everything is and it is very easy to change the way they see poker:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

I very rarely talk about poker, because many people consider it a bad thing to do. I don't want to waste time explaining that this is not a casino or slot machines, but an intellectual game. Not everyone can understand this.

I do not. I am a poker amateur, but I will never be a poker professional. I do NOT have enough patience for that. Likewise, I have told some friends that I play online poker, and they think I am lying to them when I tell them that there are millionaire tournaments. But hey, they should see for themselves. It's their problem.:cool::cool:
