As far as im concerned no one like to be kicked out of a tournament just because of the dumb playing of some players out there that pray to get the victory hand by the river(these players are called in the table dumbs or lucky ass)i will tell the truth i hate rivers because give to my fish a hope of beating me and to be sincerely honest it have happen some times to me.Like one time i was holding As ks and my pray was holding a pair of 3s i called him (these was in a real table in ultimatebet)so i see the flop it comes Ad 8h 8s he checks i raised big he called, the turn comes Qc i go all in and he called me and the river comes 3!!!!! and i losed my stack there, geez if u players dont call that a lucky ass then must be that the dealer was selled  anyway i hope you players dont get rivered. If you got a story of how bad the river beat you tell it here by replying.

Its happened to us all ;]

best not to dwell on it, add them to your buddy list then hunt them down and take your chips back

of course they would have probably lost them all already before you get the chance, though as they say, plenty more fish in the sea

F##king River too many times

I'm with Grumbledook. Add that bad boy to your Buddy list. Sure, he may run out before you get back to him today. But everyday is a good day for fishing.

The SIlencer,

This just happened to me in a freeroll last night(normally does) BB was 600 Had Pockets Aces I raised them to 1800. table chip leader reraised me I guess to see if I was bluffing. I called flop is out cant remember 1 of the cards on the flop but there was a Q K I bet he raises me I Reraise basically a Pi***** contest. I went all in he still wouldn't back down. He was holding a K Jos the Turn came was a 9 then the river ARGGGG a 10 comes. still reliving that one in my mind.

I feel your pain its happen on Cash tables for me also

I had such a story. On the flop, I had two pairs and then we went all in. and it turned out to be 2 pairs but higher than mine. And then the river helped me out with a full house. I almost kissed the monitor. Here and so

This is poker! In this case, you need to consider the pot odds for the river. In the case of all-in pre-flop, only luck is here.

I try to go all in as little as possible in tournaments. Check call enough chips in the pot and get all the cards out then decide. Anything can happen all in. Skill wins over times. Save all your chips until u catch something they won't suspect and can't beat.

Happes to all of us, but it's not only the bad players that beat you on the river, it's also the better ones.
The scenario you describe, you hold AKs and call preflop.
The preflop call, combined with a flop A88, and a (very) big post flop bet by you, may have given your opponent the conclusion that you are bluffing and that the 33 will hold.
Question here: would everything be the same if you had raised preflop, followed by a normal size c-bet post-flop?

Learn to suck it up

Anyone who plays a lot of poker understands that they are bound to be beat on the river often because poker is gambling and a lot of gamblers play poker. Sometimes life deals us a crappy hand, oh well .. learn how to just suck it up.

Unfortunately the evil river gets us all. It truly sucks. I know it’s part of the game but it’s crazy how the most terrible of calls or plays can get rewarded. Losing hands when we are 90/100 to win stings but we must remember that we want those bad calls because more often then not we win those pots.

One abstains from the rules of the game, so in general I am used to it, I understand that the odds are to be met by minors. However, it still bothers me when the river my odds are 95% to 5% and that happy card falls, it has happened to me several times and in general I lose concentration after that
