How much is too much... how long should i play per day or per week? I try to play every other day. i the morning ill play 2 sngs. i stagger them so its proble about an hour 1/2 there. then i go on about my day and at 9pm ill play the 5k and if i do well that is 5 & 1/2 hours there... so we're lookin at 7 hours if i do well that day and about 4 hours if i dont do so well.... How much do you guys play.. and what do analyst suggest?

Depends on your goals, br, family life, work, etc;
I play an avg of 5-8 hrs per day depending on the days circumstances. Some days less, some days a lot more if I'm doing well. Some days not at all if I need a break of have a lot of family stuff going on. So really it depends.

That's not a lot at all, just 3 tournaments. I used to play a lot when I was in school. I would get up and go to school until 1pm, play poker for 2 hrs before work at 3:30. I would get home at 11pm and play until 5-6am. This was getting bad because sometimes when I would be up really late, I would sleep through school the next day.

Edit: I would also play for an hour at school between classes in the library.

I dont think that is to much.
I usually log in about 30 online hours a week or so.
Then I play live as well.
So I would it is up to you how much you are playing.
And if it is to much for you.

as long as there is a balance and nothing/no one in your life is being neglected, than you are fine. Just watch out for the burn-out factor. It can happen easier than you think.

There's no such thing as playing too much...If you're having fun, you're having fun. Whether it be at a casino or at your computer, if you're enjoying yourself, then you're living life. Just don't neglect the necessities and you'll be alright

You should probably listen to your mother.

Did she pick your nickname "Chronical" for you? :D

I think you need to look at the big picture. Are you playing with rent money? Neglecting kids/spouse? Missing work? Do you find yourself starving at 3 a.m. because you won't leave the computer? Missing work? Do you see the sun for at least 2 hours a day? If not then you're probably responsible enough to go at the pace you're on. Don't go broke or screw up your job or relationships and you're fine. Not many people make this a living if you look at % of pros vs. the rest of us.

you sound like you're alright.
I've played for around 12 hours straight before then went to school the next morning, my eyes were so red... I wouldn't worry about it till you get to that stage.

Isn't the point that you should worry about it BEFORE you get to that stage?

You need to learn to multitable and plan the tournaments you are playing better IMO. You should be able to play >10 sngs in 1 hr and a half even w/ only 4 tabling or so and guys that really multitable can do 20+ at one time. It would probably be a good idea to play >1 MTT at a time or mix in sngs with the MTT.

Ultimately none of this matters if you just like playing poker, but to play 7 hrs/day and only get 2 sngs and one MTT out of it seems like a huge waste of time. If you dedicated more time to improving the efficiency of your play, then you could play 7 hours one day and take 2 days off and still get in more hands or tournaments.

On one hand it seems like you play alot per day, but on the other hand you probably get it less tournaments in one week than a good multitabler would get in one hour.

Haha, it's only a fourth of your day. You ask this on a poker forum? There are people here I'm sure that easily put an average of 9 hours a day and think it's not enough. It all depends on what responsibililities you have and if poker is getting in the way
