sometime I find it hard to get concentrated on one table too, it help to browse the internet, however, it is very important to keep on track with what happening on the table, at MTT at the begging of the tourny you really can do other things but its very improtant at the middle and late stage to stay focus because you can play for long time with the same people and at this point you really should know where you can steal a blind or fold to a small raise.

I think you should take the freerolls seriously or not play them at all. If you survive to the first break the value can be quite good. To consistently survive that long I believe you need only play about one hand per round or 10%. After the break most of the all in brigade are gone or at least calmed down and you can steal when you get a goodish hand. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate but if you don't you will miss out on individual players styles which can reap dividends if you make notes.

I have the exact same problem. Bored at one table with slow play, especially in big tourneys (you know how long you hope to be there). I find that 6 player tables in tourneys are the answer for me. The action is much faster and it is much easier to concentrate. There is a 6 player $50 freeroll on Carbon (1500 players max) if you don't mind the small prize pool.

maybe try turbos. I use to be firmly against turbos as I thought there was too
much variance but ive since learned that its really the same game you just get there quicker.

play 2 tables take notes on the other players it will make you pay attention the only real way to win long term is to be able to put the other players on a range of hands you can only do that by watching!

If you're having trouble focusing on one table, then I'd suggest playing more tables. I personally think that reading/writing/watching other stuff while playing is never going to help you concentrate.

You'd be much better off treating the tables as a live one. Focusing on betting patterns and noting what hands people are showing down after various lines.

2 tables at the same time I do not think it's good, because we lost the action of some players .. tables of 6 or turbo I find ideal, to concentrate and make a good game! gl

I have had the same problem at the early stages of a STT or MTT. So if im playing one table ill watch Poker after dark at the same time (pausing when need be) or I just play 2 tables.

Try playing 4 tables at one time. You get to see new cards every 15-30 seconds.

If I'm only playing one table then I typically do better if I have the table as a small screen while I am surfing the net. Keeps my mind focused on getting quality starting cards, etc instead of getting impatient and making stupid moves. These are at micro stakes, of course, where getting good cards is the most important factor.

If I play higher stakes, then I will have to concentrate on more of what's going on at the table, etc.

You don't need to pay attention if you have good HuD stats and understand a player from that.

I play micro-stakes & freerolls tourneys so I'll generally play 2-4 tables & vary the games (ie: NLH, PLO, Stud). In addition to reading posts & posting, I'm reading the CC Strategy Articles. Since it's the holidays, I'm also e-shopping ;).

True, but you have to be careful. I caught myself almost doing something stupid with some goofball who was something like 70/40. Obviously a dead awful player, right? Then I noticed I had oh, about 10 hands on him, so those stats meant nothing. He turned out to actually have a hand (fish looked him up), and 200 hands later, he didn't look like a goofball anymore.

The ONLY way you should be playing is watching the play on the tables, whether you're playing 1 or 6. I won't speak for more than 6 as I've never done that, but watch who does what, take notes because those mean something before the stats do, replay hands if there was info you didn't see.

Of course, that's not what I do. I surf the web and watch stuff on hulu. Never really realized how much I like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Anyway, I'm sure I'd be a lot better if I didn't do that. :D

I take the time to make notes on other players. Then after I have notes on most the players I play games of solitaire. I can stop the sollitaire game at any time so it does not mess me up in my poker game.
