Difficulty with foreign players...

So i've been running pretty solidly at 25NL for the past few weeks, but the last 2 days my sleep schedule has been out of whack (sleeping way too late and staying up all night.) Last night i played ~1500 hands from 11pm-2am or so an was at just over 4.6 BB/100. I took a break, watched some TV and some videos on stoxpoker, and then when i realized that i still wasn't tired, i decided to get another session going (since i'd been running pretty well.)

By this time it was 6:00 AM EST and i was just about the only american on any of my tables. I don't know if it was just a bad run of cards or what, but it seemed like i couldn't win a pot. My bluffs get called down by rags, my monsters run into the nuts and it seems like there is nothing i can do about it. The strange thing is that almost the exact same thing happened the night before (same times and same results.)

Of course this is just food for thought... i'm not blaming my losses on others or anything like that. I just thought that it was a strange coincidence. And the idea just came about in my head.

It may be due to not taking a big enough break between sessions, or not having a clear head when playing, but i just wanted to know if any other Americans have difficulty adjusting to German/Eastern European styles of play. I've had huge gains during my normal playing times, but huge losses during theirs... So i know 5am-9am on FT is off limits to me for a while. Guess i'll have to find something else to occupy all my time while my insomnia continues.

Well a lot of these German players are young and very aggressive, so what I would do is play even tighter and make them pay you off good when you have a strong hand. Or like you said, just don't play if you can't beat them and watch TV or something.

Took out some info from your post and it looks like you've answered your own question about the downswing. You're playing when too tired/bored.

I've never had any problem adjusting to players of other nationalities and realy haven't seen much of a difference between their play or anyone elses. I've found myself at tables with players with Europeans, North Americans, Aussies and Asians all at the same table more often than not. Time of day has some factor as to who you'll be opposing but people everwhere work jobs of all hours therefore they play when they can.

If you see the time is way late it's time to just power off the computer and walk away. Get some sleep or do some reading in bed to help you get to sleep. That should help you avoid the problem you're facing.

I know not to play tired, and its now 2:45 p.m. and unfortunately i'm still awake.. The OP was more for discussion of different nationalities style of play, and if any adjustments are needed/encouraged, rather than advice to me. I do appreciate it, but i have also come to these conclusions and will be doing my best to keep my gains and not just end up breaking even for the day.

I play late into the night every night. Usually have a couple of Asians and maybe someone from down under. The asians i think are very methodical.
As for the euros. yea the germans as you might expect are very aggressive, the french are more finesse minded. At least the ones i have run into. As for the ones from downunder they're usually just drunk.
