i went on a cruise with family for our dads 70th birthday. my brother and i e-mailed royal carribeans casino asking about texas holdem.. they said there was a 50 dollar tourney..we were looking forward to playing. when we got there we checked into it ..the tourney turned out to be a 100 dollar buy-in with rebuy and only the winner would get a buy in to a 100,000 satelite. we didn't play...i read there pamplet for holdem. it said 1-2 blinds figured we could play it was supposed to be limit..went to the table and watched..they changed the game to no limit holdem 100 dollars to sit down 1-2 blinds sounds good...one guy kept raising to at least 50 dollars pre-flop...watched,he played k 4 offsuit and rivered a fush . then he raised pre-flop 80 with q 3 floped q rivered 3 and won...he played the whole time 5 days we didn't play....the rake was 10%

Sharks in the water, and sharks at the tables. Care to tell us which cruise line to avoid if the gambling action is of concern ? I've heard stories like this before from other folks who have been on cruises.

10% rake is definitely steep. Nice to have a captive audience, eh ??

All it takes is that one little disclaimer somewhere in the tour contract that states "all events, schedules and promotions are subject to change without notice".
