So here I am.....

Level 2 in a 5k Guarantee. The player to my left is betting everything, so it seems. He fits all the criteria of a prey species. (By this time I've heard him called donk 3 times). So...one of the self styled sharks decides to call one of these bets and lo and behold....The "donk" has KK, flops a set. Ouch!
A couple hands later the shark is singing a woeful tale from his new seat on the rail. (Oh the name calling!)
This sort of thing happens a couple more times. Im happy when Im moved.

Im having a great game, hovering in the top 10 overall. Im in the money pretty deep now and get moved for what seems the hundredth time and we're down to three tables. I had forgotten all about the "donk". But I sit down and there he is.

Im surprised, but I figure people get lucky sometimes. He's carrying on his "donk fashion" but everytime he needs to back his play, he's able to.
He makes the final table with about a mid-range stack. Im shortstacked and watching to see if I can better my position.

This guy now.....plays flawlessly, trapping, check raising....on and on. He evelavtes me to sixth position in about as many hands. By now Im facinated. Im all in for the BB and lose, finishing sixth. Decent payday.

I watch from the rail as this guy dismembers the remaining players and walks off with top prize.

I msg him and ask about his playing style. I get a smiley and a brief comment...... Someone has to drive the short bus

Indeed So!

I think a lot of online players think that TAG is the only way to play a tournament and there is nothing else that is correct. This is certainly not the mindset to have, and often times the people that are calling other people donks aren't winning players, you gotta keep an open mind when it comes to strategy.

Maybe what you think is good play is just more luckiness on his part. Perhaps he raises his level as the tourney goes on. Or maybe he was getting junky hands even he was willing to fold.

It is possible for a total donk to win a tournament. I have seen it happen.

Got a hand history with his name?

I'd be curious to put it into sharkscope and see how he me measures up.
