How do you defend against a bully? Someone with a 15k chip stack is raising EVERY HAND, stealing the blinds, While im sitting there folding A9, because I dont want to risk my 3k stack with this aggressive physco. What do I do?

Depends on the blinds... but if you don't make a stand at some point, then the above poster is correct. It's better to shove with some equity then to just be blinded out.

bullying

maybe

1) you should be in a lower limit game
2) you wait til you get the cards to win - how many times have you seen someone like this lose it all?
3) this guy is rich and irrational - not much you can do about that

Keep folding your A9. What if he has A10, or he is pushing with something better. Wait until you get a better hand to push with and push back, chances are he won't call.

He's probably rich like mentioned above, and he is probably raising every hand no matter what, and just when you think he is raising with crap, he will flop over a strong hand...... Thats why you don't push with your A9.

I'm assuming this is a tournament. If the blinds are even remotely large relative to your stack at this point, you have to shove with A9.

He is shoving every hand. That means his range is everything. The means A9 is well ahead of his range. So what if this time he happens to have something better? Crushing his range = +ev.

IF blinds are high, shove with A9.

well he has a 15K stack so the blinds are at 100-200 or less u should wait for a better hand
if the blindsare like 300-600 and u have a 3K stack u have to push

Could have been worse. You could have had AA and he had A9 and the flop came AA9 with two spades. Then you call to the river, where the spade hits and you shove, representing the flush. He calls and you bust him.

Sure, this seems ideal. But this good-looking young punk just might come back later with determination on his face and his life on the line and bust you for a much bigger haul with his mad soul-reading and slow-playing skillz! And you'll have to give up oreos, which you love.

Beware A9! It can pwn you so many ways that you'll never see coming.

If that happens there's something wrong with the site/game as there'd be five aces in the deck, I think you mean flop of A99

ok first of all folding ace 9 probly wasnt a good idea, if u face a bully the best you can do and push allin with any "decent" hand and hope to dominate him.

You need to be aware of POSITION on a bully and put him all in ahead of his bet on your normal playing hand for that position. Especially if he is one of the blinds. A few times of this and they MAY slow down.

Haha jk.... like buster said, it's hard to smash a bully especially if their running hot, simply put you must become the bully, take advantage of position and be aware of his position bets/raises

There are ways of dealing with a bully.1.Wait for the monster hand.2. Start telling him jokes to possibly throw his concentration off.3.sitout and hope you get moved out of his room.4.Get him mad and maybe throw his concentration off.5...turn your computer off..lol....so you do have a few options. If ya dont want to risk an allin, you better have the gift of gab and hope he s willing to chat.

I agree with what has been said.

To add my bit. Remember, it is not you against the bully, so don`t let it get that way. If u have say A9, he raises and you have not put any chips in the pot, just fold and wait for a better spot.

I could answer better regarding when to fire back if I knew what the blinds are relative to your chip stack, your position in the MTT (If u r near the bubble, etc)

Let me know.

It has been my experience that the bully will play any two cards, going all in, so you just have to wait for a decent starting hand and call. Any of the hands from group one will do.
I also find that as fast as the bully gets his huge stack, that is as fast as they lose it. It seems that once they lose half their stack, the bully needs to get it back and continues to push, then you have the fun of taking him/her out. They do put the whole table into "tight" mode as well, which remains after the bully leaves so you can loosen up and bully the rest of the table for a while.

Patience.....wait till he's in the blinds, you have a playable hand, push all-in pre-flop, and cross your fingers.:D
