Does anyone know what the rule is if a dealer accidentally puts too many cards out for the flop or if many cards are exposed from the top of the deck after the hand is dealt out? I would imagine play has to continue since the cards are already dealt out.

If anyone knows the answer to this it would be greatly appreciated if you are SURE of your answer. Thank you.

i think the fourth card might be the burn card. everyone gets to see that card before it goes into the muck, then i believe the hand would resume as usual

My understanding is that if an extra card is dealt, then that card goes back in the deck and re shuffled.

I got this response off the wsop site.

"If a dealer inadvertently deals an additional card prior to any action taking place, that card will be placed at the top of the stack and will be used as the burn card for the next round of dealing. "

Hope that helps

I was thinking this too… I'm not sure about it being a burned card… I'm not sure if that is correct. What if multiple cards get exposed? IE someone bumps the dealer and 8 cards get flipped over from the top of the deck

If the flop needs to be redealt because the cards were prematurely flopped before the betting was complete, or the flop contained too many cards, the boardcards are mixed with the remainder of the deck. The burncard remains on the table. After shuffling, the dealer cuts the deck and deals a new flop without burning a card.

This sounds right. Does the floor have to decide this or can the dealer just do it? So basically *bump* dealer flips over 9 cards from the top of the deck in the middle of the betting round. Dealer takes cards and reshuffles the deck… Betting is continued and flop continues as normal.

Second senario - Flop comes out and there are 4 cards. All 4 cards are placed back in the deck, reshuffled and new flop is dealt. This sounds like what you just said but just wanted to confirm. Are you a dealer or did you see this happen?
