I just watched last Sunday's episode of the HU Poker Champioships.

David Willaims A6c comes up against his opponents AA, and when Williams sees the pair of aces what does he do? He has a little temper tantrum and rips his cards in half. (stay classy, David).

But that reminded me of the video below.

Remember in his match with Farha? In a cooler delivered by Satan himself, Farha hits a bigger boat on the river to beat the boat that Williams flopped.

Oops.

But at about 3:00 minutes in the vid, note Williams reaction and tell me what you think.

Idle talk as a result of that cooler? Or does he really believe what he
suggests here?

(this has bugged me since I saw it last year)

I'm guessing when he says "Wow, just got cheated" he didn't actually mean cheated by the dealer or Farha. One heck of a cooler...ouch. This should be submitted to the "online poker is rigged" thread cause this NEVER happens in live play.:D

I don't think he believes he was literally cheated by Sammy or the dealer... but cheated by the universe or the poker gods or something I can see him believing. He really does strike me as a bit of a tool.

I have to say, this is why I remembered it. If he really did suspect he was cheated, I think his reaction would be exactly what you saw. I don't know ..... something about his tone and his countenance made me think that he is standing there thinking he literally got cheated.

And yeah, a tool to say the least. I can't tell you how many hands of poker I have watched on TV, and I have never seen someone rip their cards in half for any reason, not even finding out your mighty A6c is hopelessly dominated.

If I thought the dealer or Sammy had cheated, I'd say "They've cheated".

If I thought I should have won the hand and got very unlucky with the river, I'd feel "cheated" out of the pot.

Probably a bad word for him to use.

It's like when my husband bowls and fails to knock down all the pins in what looks like it should be a strike. When I say, "You were robbed!" I don't mean a burglar snuck down the lane and made sure one pin was left standing, I mean the universe deprived him of a well-earned win. Williams probably meant the same.

like set over set it suppose to happen only one out of a hundred times.
i think i would of liked to see the video of him ripping his cards in two, lol.:trytofly:

Cheated may have been a Bad choice of words because it could be taken in the wrong context.

Amazing! I wish the flop would have came 666 or even 66, hell even 3 clubs because his hand would have been "dead" due to him ripping his cards up!

I've always liked David so I will give him the benefit of the doubt here. One thing I think it is difficult for us to truly know is that 1st place in this tour. pays $500,000 and this match was for a place in the semi's. Also a win in a prestigous tour. like this also can have other paying possibilities, such as more pay when he reups his contract with bodog. I'm pretty sure none of us here has ever played with that much money on the line and with the way the hand played out I think emotion just got the best of him. Not the best way to act but I think a little more understandable when you think about how much was on the line.

Anyone else notice the other player to rip up their cards?... Phil Gordon ripped up his cards too. That's David's way... he just plays with his heart on his sleeve. I'm not defending him... just saying its easy to judge someone else's actions. I try not to look at it in a good or bad way.

Well, I think Bodog would be able to leave him at the same pay during a re-up due to the fact they would be able to say "You ripped up your cards on live t.v. and called someone a cheat". I think wearing your heart on your sleeve is okay but there is a line and I think both times that line was crossed.

Total cooler I would be just as frustrated. He didn't really mean he was cheated just felt like it since he flopped the 2nd nuts. More of an online hand being dealt there for sure. Can't blame him for feeling that way. OUCH!
