Yes that's pretty strange.

... Once upon a time there was an online poker player named 'Sorel'... & another one also named 'Sorel'.. & another... & another... & another.

Since when are poker players considered role models? Dont get me wrong I love poker but my role models are my teachers, law men and fire and ems workers.

I think philosophers make better role models.
Diogenes of Sinope
Crates of Thebes
Socrates
Jesus
Buddha

Another High Limit Online player admits to multi accounting. Makes you wonder how good he really is. How much do you think he made off multi-accounting? Please read the full article here and comment: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news/11843-dan-jungleman12-cates-admits-to-multi-accounting

He's a little ethically challenged but I certainly don't question how good he is. He ghosted the prodigy account to get action from Tyler because there is no way Tyler would have played him otherwise. Ask Dwan how good he thinks JM is.

We are often guilty of making the mistake of thinking that because someone is uniquely skilled at something (poker, sports, acting etc) that they possess high character.

The opposite is often true. After all, it usually takes a great deal of self absorbed focus, often cut off from normal social norms to achieve greatness. This can certainly lead to shortcomings in character. Its all about tradeoffs.

Cheating is cheating if you want to say he is only a 'little' ethcially challenged thats cool, but I highly doubt he only used it for 'action' against Tyler. If he had not gotten caught I 'm willing to bet he would still be cheating. Oh and one more thing I never said he possessed high character 'HE' said he possessed the good character and he also said he never used multi-accounts on multiple interviews he has given over the years. So if I cheat but I say I'm not cheating for the purpose of cheating is that cheating?

I agree that he cheated. I was mainly objecting to your questioning of his skill. Also, I was in general criticizing the fanboy culture that builds up around famous pros. I wasn't intending to say that you specifically thought he had high character. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I will say that while JM did cheat, I don't think that what he did was as bad as Jose superusing his skype group. Tyler was at least in a straight game and could in theory win. Jose's opponents had no chance. The whole ghosting, multi accounting thing is tricky because at one time it was widely accepted practice and now is essentially impossible to enforce against.

Also, since you can have an account on more than one merge skin, what if JM had created a random account on another skin in his name and then played Tyler? Tyler still wouldn't have known it was JM but no rules would have been broken.

I think what JM did was shady but its far from the worst thing I've ever heard of and not even close to what Jose did.

I do question how good he is because You say he is good based upon his online play. Now that it has come out he cheated ' do you think he is still good' ? Mark McGwire was good at hitting home runs , but after learning he was using steroids I have to question how good was he really....
P.S. I do agree with you that Fanboys suck

This type of cheating does absolutely nothing to warrant questioning his skill. This was to get action. I'm not condoning it, but it's pretty silly to bring up questions of skill. JM beat him fair and square; Tyler simply thought he was someone else. You're making it sound like JM is Girah.

Obviously, we should be questioning Girah's skills, since he represented winning sessions he did not play as his own. JM did nothing of the sort.

Oh.....I get it now.....I'm suppose to believe an admitted cheater who only cheated to get 'action'.....I'm not questioning his skills live but online skills........yes......I'm not going to believe an admitted cheater.......I cheated but I didn't cheat that way....come on.....

I don't consider it to be "fair and square" when JM knows his opponent, and his opponent is paying to find out that he is play JM. just my opinion ofcourse :)
